Details of your catches:

Fishing was instant within hours of putting rods out but with the weather warming up fishing slowed down in the heat of they day. We ended up fishing mornings and evenings, our overall experience we caught fish everyday and enjoyed it

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

Tiger nuts
Snowman rig

Good location, shops close to the lake. Plenty of water per man and the bailiff was very friendly

Details of your catches:

We had an outstanding week, a total of 63 fish. The fishing was manic with multiple double hook-ups, most of the fish were late 20's, several 30+ and 5 40+ grass carp, 1 50+ grass carp and on the last morning we had a massive catfish too big to lift out of the lake.
The weather was extremely hot 2-7pm so we rested the swim and neither of us fished at night.
My daughter broke her PB 3 times and I had a PB Grass carp and catfish. This is the third time I have fished the lake; it's great fishing. We were on swim two.

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

Tiger nuts to the far back with loads of bait, this lake would be hard to fish without a bait boat

Were the facilities what you expected?

Yes, they have been upgraded and are clean

Were you happy with them?

Yes, a freezer would be helpful but the place if off grid so may not be possible

General Comments:

Frank and Mark do a brilliant job, if you go in July, go ready to deal with very hot weather. There is shade in the swim; this is a great place to take a new carp angler. These are hungry fish, the chats are not an issue if you use tiger nuts - any other bait is gone in seconds, even rock-hard boilies.

Details of your catches:

30 fish from 17 – 51lb catching every day. We didn’t bother fishing at night, there was no point as the days are busy enough and your bait won't make it through the night anyway.

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

Were the facilities what you expected?

Facilities were as expected and as described. Its all we needed and didn’t expect luxury. We booked a drive and survive. Cooking on the bank is part of the fun for us.

Were you happy with them?

Clean. adequate and as expected.

General Comments:

It was quiet, wild and remote. It was great. We were worried about not catching because of the heatwave. We originally booked Brocard large but due to the temperatures Frank recommended going on to small and fishing the far bank. It worked. Day time fishing was busy we dint even need to put our rods out at night. We were the only 2 on the lake. I had 16 from 20 – 51lb and my friend had 14 from 17 to 48lb both were a mixture of gorgeous commons, mirrors, and grass carp. Local amenities are a 15 minute drive away, phone and phone wifi worked just great. There are poisson chat and crayfish so refresh your rods regularly.
