How much bait will I need?
We advise a minimum of 5kg boilies per angler.
What bait do you recommend?
Our own bait which the fish have been feeding on consistently. See 'bait' tab for more information.
If you supply bait on site, will I be able to get more bait during my stay if I need it?
Yes
Is my UK carp set-up suitable for use at your lake?
Yes
What hook size do you recommend?
6 and 4, wide gape or curve. All hooks must be barbless or micro barbed hooks only.
What breaking strain of main line do you recommend?
Minimum 12lb Breaking strain mainline. No braid as mainlines (but it can be used on marker and spod rods).
What is the surface of the swims - can I use bank sticks?
The surface of the swims is gravel. Pods highly recommended as the stones under the ground make it very hard to get bank sticks in. We also have one wooden platform swim outside the facilities.
Are any special tactics required?
Not really, You can fish in open water or near trees.
Do you recommend use of a bait boat?
It is not a necessity but it is an asset. It is available to hire on site.
Can I drive all the way around the lake in order to unload?
No but you can drive to the swims and park behind them.
Is it possible to park a campervan or caravan at the lake? If so, is it possible to park it close enough to the swim(s) to fish from?
No, we don’t have the authorisation from our mayor, because we are not a camping.
Is the lake secure? Can we leave our gear on the bankside if we go out?
We believe we have made it as secure as possible - we have a gate at the entrance and we have installed a video surveillance system.
Can we drink the tap water?
No, please bring bottled water.
Can you usually get mobile phone coverage at the lake, 3g or 4g coverage?
Yes, of course it depends on your provider, but signal is usually good.
Do you have UK plug points?
We have English adaptors, but bring your own converters just incase.
Can I fish whilst sleeping in the accommodation?
Yes, it is possible as long as you have your receiver with you and are quick out the door!
How far are the nearest supermarket / petrol / tabac?
There is a big town (Pacy sur Eure) just near the pond, where you can find markets, doctors, pharmacy, petrol and tabac.
Is Duquesne suitable for beginners?
Yes. Duquesne is one of the best lakes for anglers making their first carp fishing trip to France. The manageable lake size, healthy stock of around 200 carp, exclusive booking format and comfortable facilities create a relaxed fishing experience without the pressure of tackling a large, challenging water. The friendly owners are happy to offer advice where needed.
Can families fish at Duquesne?
Yes, we think it is an excellent choice for a family holiday where you want to introduce the kids to fishing and camping, but with good lodge facilities right on the lakeside. Whilst children always need to be supervised whilst fishing as a matter of safety, we think it is a very welcoming venue for all. Extra activities such as a petanque/boules court and table tennis table are available for use also.
