Details of your catches:
18 carp between 2 of us, ranging from 18lb - 35lb
Your best tactics/bait/rigs:
A mixture of bright Wafters over 10mm boilies , house spiced plumb boilies and approx 60kg of house particle over the week.
Were the facilities what you expected?
The facilities were spot on, cabin was clean & tidy with all that is required for a drive & survive if not more than perfect, also a well kept decking area & not to mention solar PV / battery combo powering a good bank of power sockets, the fridge / lights ect (fantastic)
Were you happy with them?
Absolutely, all we needed / required for a week’s fishing
Would you recommend the venue to a friend?

Highly recommend booking via Angling lines, have to mention Jo & the team as we had to make many adjustments from a party member cancellation to adding / removing vehicles and adjusting the crossing times on multiple occasions all of which was dealt swiftly and accurately without disruption or delay. Very professional.
General Comments:
The venue is stunning, peaceful & tranquil. An estate lake to be respected & admired. We feel extremely privileged to have caught some of the most stunning carp I’ve ever caught in the UK or Europe.
We faced a mixture of temperatures from cold to warm winds early part of the week to 29-30 deg the last couple of days. Production was just as good at all times on the basis you're on the carp.
We were lucky to arrive after first / second spawn but unlucky with the big girls leaving it to the end of our trip. Thankfully the Males were on the move but just meant the larger specimens failed to grace our nets this week.
Spots were very easy to find and baited in the showing areas.
A big thanks to bailiff Mark & the team, highly recommend you take Marks advice. Knowledge is power. Thank you again Bachelier family for offering such a beautiful lake for Angling lines, Mark for maintaining & the for one the most memorable trip in many years.
It has left us relishing the opportunity for an anticipated return to catch the elusive A team.

Were the facilities what you expected?
Yes
Were you happy with them?
Yes, they were clean and worked well.
Would you recommend the venue to a friend?
Yes. It’s a tricky venue and the weed meant you had to put thought into how and where you presented baits etc.
Would you recommend the services to a friend?
Yes - excellent as usual
General Comments:
Really enjoyable week. Could have been much better but the temperature dropped significantly during the week and the influx of cold rain slowed the fishing considerably. Mark was very helpful when we needed him.

We were told on arrival at Jountry that the cabin was going to be timber cladded during our stay.To which I was not impressed. As a Construction site manager I see and hear the sound of impact drills and circular saws on a daily basis not what I want on a quiet fishing trip. The works commenced on Monday around 10.30 am till 3.30 pm. The works continued like this till C,O,P Friday. Why do upgrades when people have paid good money to fish in a tranquil and beautiful environment. This was not acceptable.
Were you happy with them?
The weed in the lake has become a big problem. Having fished here in April 24. Some weed was present but not effecting the ability to fish from the bank. This trip fishing from the bank was almost impossible 20 plus feet of weed and floating weed directly in front of the swim
Making using a bait boat or landing a fish impossible till I raked a strip out myself. A row boat was positioned in my swim courtesy of the lake management free of charge. But as a confident bank angler I have never wanted to use a boat to land fish or place my rigs or bait up. Just not my style of fishing. Not Ideal for me.
Would you recommend the venue to a friend?
The venue is amazing hence why I returned. I just think that there needs to be more transparency with lake conditions/ fish ability/ and planned upgrades to facilities. In April 24 I arrived to a flooded lake no swim to set up in. Had to use the track as a swim. No mention prior to arrival at the lake.
I know you can’t change the weather but this happened several day before.

Angling lines is a great company which I have used and have been on many group bookings over the years.
General Comments:
I write this accurate account of my experience because I believe that people need to know more about what lakes are like and what they might in counter when arriving on there fishing trip. It may help people choose there trip accordingly.
*Angling Lines note* Thank you for your feedback, we really appreciate it. We are sorry to hear that spawning affected your fishing during the week. We have discussed your comments with bailiff Mark. The curly leaf weed is seasonal and normally dies back towards the end of May/early June as the water temperature rises (we have added a latest news piece with aerial shots of the lake taken April 2026). Regarding the cladding, Mark advises anglers were asked at the start of the week if the works could go ahead and no concerns were raised at the time. As no complaints were made during the week, Mark was unaware the noise was causing an issue. However, we take your comments on board moving forwards and apologise.
