Fullys Lake

About the Lake

Fullys lake is a gravel pit dug back in the 1990s which has, since 2015, naturalised into a very peaceful place to spend a week carp fishing. The lake is designed for up to 8 anglers on non-exclusive weeks and up to 10 anglers when you book the lake exclusively for your group.

You prebook your swims here and the six well-maintained gravel swims are made up of two doubles and four singles (although single swims 2 & 4 can easily be used as doubles if your group books the lake exclusively, or if you book 2 & 3 together you can both fish from swim 2 for example). Swims 1 and 6 are quite open to the sun, if you prefer more shade then go for the others.

Take a look at the lake map for swim locations and click the markers for a thorough description of the features of each swim.

There are plenty of features and differences in depth here - ranging from around 2m to 3.5m at its deepest. The bottom is mostly hard, but gravel, sandy and muddy spots can be found. Having a strong, abrasion resistant, snag leader is needed as there are mussels on the bottom in places. You'll also find some weed and should be confident fishing with this present (mainly in the summer months). At least one rowing boat on each swim is a mandatory requirement for this reason (these can be hired on site, information can be found at the bottom of this page).

A gravel track circles the lake and therefore all swims have very good access for your vehicle. You can also park behind your swim for the duration of your holiday, so this lake is also well suited for those wishing to take their campervan.

The site itself is completely fenced and backs onto a large forest at one end. There is a military area relatively close to the lake and occasionally you may hear them training, but nothing too disturbing.

There are no poisson chat or bream in the lake. As with many French lakes, crayfish are present but actively managed with traps. However, it is always best to go prepared and we recommend you take shrink wrap for your hookbaits or use plastic baits - you can find lots of information here for combatting crayfish in France. With these simple measures in place, they should cause you no problem. Fishing in the open water also tends to work as they often stick to the margins.
