About the Lake
Golden Carp Lake is a spring-fed 12 acre sand quarry that was abandoned and flooded in the late 1970's.
It caters comfortably for seven anglers and features three double swims, a single swim, plus the cabin swim which sits to one end of the lake (for two anglers and up to four guests, with a private plunge pool and accommodation). If adding the cabin accommodation when making your booking online, please select swim 1 to go with this - this gives you enough water to fish either from the cabin swims directly outside or from the platform at swim 1 too.
All of the swims have been purpose-built with a mud-free gravelled surface. Swims 1, 2, 3 and 4 each have a rowing boat ramp, with swims 1, 2 and 3 also featuring stepped access to the water. We strongly recommend the use of rod pods, as the ground on the swims is exceptionally hard.
All swims have vehicle access for loading and unloading your gear.
Boats with oars and life jackets (which must be worn) are included with every booking.
Depths range from a foot to around 14 feet, with an average depth of around 7 feet. Water levels can drop around 3 feet due to the sunshine and hot weather that is associated with this part of France. However, the lake remains fishable throughout the year, with good catches still being made well into December.
Features include three islands, reed-lined banks, drop-offs and a few (fairly angler-friendly) snags.
Aerators located at either end of the lake provide a constant flow of oxygen for the ever-growing stock of fish.
There are no crayfish or poisson chat.
