About the Lake
The lake itself is uncomplicated to fish - it isn't snaggy and there aren't any issues with weed. There's good variation in depth, ranging from 1.2 to 3.7 metres at the deepest and you'll find a small island off centre. There are no poisson chat but the lake does have some crayfish present so if you're fishing in the summer months it is best to go prepared with shrink wrap just incase - you can find lots of information here for combatting crayfish in France.
The swims
There are three swims here, each on its own side of the lake:
Swim one is situated directly in front of the lodge, on the dam wall. You have the width of the lake to fish with margins both sides. It is an 18m2 woodchip pontoon making it very practical in the wetter months. From door to swim the distance is 30m, so for those physically able to be quick on their rods it is possible to fish from this swim whilst sleeping within the accommodation.
Swim two is a large grass double, half way down the right side, and sits slightly out into the water. It fishes to the island on its right and includes a simple wooden lodge that can be used instead of a bivvy if preferred. Two wooden pontoons extend into the water, with a set of steps providing easy access to the water.
Swim three is another large grass double on the opposite side of the lake. From here you can cast to the island and left-hand margins heading to the top of the lake. It can accept a vehicle parked behind it in the dry summer months.
Coarse/stock lake
At Heart Lake, you'll also have access to a separate coarse and stock pond located just above the main lake. It's the perfect place to introduce children or beginners to fishing, with plenty of action to keep them engaged and build their confidence. It's also ideal for experienced anglers looking for some quick bites and a few bends in the rod while taking a break from the main carp lake.
