2 anglers

Details of your catches:

For the week between two of us we caught 4 x 20’s, 3 x 30’s, 2 x 40’s

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

Urban baits 18mm nutcracker wafters and bottom baits, DNA bug, spinner rig with various pop ups. Bottom baits fished over boilie / maize (forget the pellet as the Bream love em)

Were the facilities what you expected?

This is not a complaint but I thought that the toilet / shower block could of been bigger with more toilets as only one loo and two showers on a big lake is a bit limited for a total of twenty anglers. Water was a nice constant temperature without need to adjust. Plenty of freezer/ fridge space for food and bait, along with UK power points for charging batteries etc.

Were you happy with them?

In general yes

Would you recommend the venue to a friend?

Yes. It’s a fair drive from Calais but worth the effort if you get on the fish. Nice and quiet venue. Beef up your line to 20lb as some rough gravel/ flint ground at range. Heavy 5oz leads, running rigs and Big bottom baits.

Would you recommend the services to a friend?

Definitely. We have used angling lines several times before and will continue in the future as very good service provided and fair prices.

General Comments:

Firstly I advise you punch the coordinates given on the info pack into Google maps on your phone as the last part of the journey is a bit tricky. My phone took us directly to gate. Lovely lake with some nice fish. The week we fished the majority of the fish were down the widest part of the lake with swims 1 and 11 producing good catches of roughly 25 fish per angler. Fish didn’t seem to move much until end of week when weather changed to wet and windy. As with all lakes it’s luck of the draw on the day and fish will move at some point. Good size swims all around the lake and allowed to park car behind swim as long as you don’t block track. We thought it would be nice if each swim had some basic information posted on a laminated board as to which buoys to fish to for your swim, hot spots etc. Most of the fishing is at range so you WILL NEED a decent bait boat or hire a boat for the week. Tie plenty of rigs to get you started as it’s a new hook every time you reel in as points damaged.
