Details of your catches:

Lepinet North swim 11, 12 fish caught & 6 lost

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

Fishing for a bite & not piling the bait in, two - three bait scoops per rod. Best tactics balanced tigers & Ronnie rigs with yellow popups.

Snag fishing was the most productive but ensuring you use snag leaders and being prepared to be on the rods day & night. I found lots of snagged rigs when patrolling the margins in the boat and catching fish. Using the correct tackle is essential.

Were the facilities what you expected?

Excellent as usual… great to have these on site, showers, power & fridge freezers.

Were you happy with them?

Absolutely….

Would you recommend the venue to a friend?

Yes, two groups came with us on this visit & when we return in August.

General Comments:

Overall great relaxing venue. Great quality fish to be caught. David & Sebastian both extremely helpful when needed. Local amenities within a short distance should you require anything.

Details of your catches:

As a group we struggled to catch in open water from swim 10 - just two grass carp 42lb & 33lb each with a scattering of bream all around the 8lb mark. Swim 11 was more productive with 5 carp - mirrors and commons to 41.8. Difficult to identify why we didn't do better as we had all the tech (RT7 bait boat) and had fished swim 10 previously. David also visited and gave us some hints - which included fishing near-side margins overnight. Our trip started with horrendous storms and that may have impacted on patrol routes and feeding?

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

Standard carp methods (all using the recommended rigs stated on the rules!) with boilies. We used fishmeal based 20 & 25mm (and still caught bream on the 25mm!) Slip D, German, and combi rigs all caught.

Were the facilities what you expected?

Yes.

The second WC is a good improvement. Facilities were kept clean by those of us at the lake so were pleasant to use. I also think there were more rubbish bins than there have been on previous trips, which was convenient.

Despite the fact that this is a challenging venue it is natural, safe and secluded. Personally I would only really want one of four pegs on the whole lake (north and south) 1, 5, 6 & 11 as these allow you to fish to the margins and the overhanging trees. However, this requires you to be on your rod and ready as the fish can still kite into the snags easily. It’s hook and hold tactics. A boat ideally with an outboard is essential, the small rowing boats provided are just about adequate but aren’t really ideal. Only go to this lake if you are comfortable and able to fish at distances of up to 200yds, or if in one of the end swims are happy to be close to your rods and tighten the drag down, a leisurely wander to a screaming run won’t work - the fish will be in the snags and gone!

I have been using AL for many years and have always had great service and friendly help and advice.
