Details of your catches:

Two anglers without a bait-boat caught 13 carp, mostly mirrors, between 28 and 33lb. We both blanked on the first and last days, no idea why and we didn't fish all night. Most fish were caught in the early or late sessions.

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

The lake having suffered from the drought, there were a lot of small carp to try to avoid. Suggested tactics were larger and harder baits although these still seemed to be attacked so we reverted to simpler methods and an 18mm boillie on a short hair rig and size 4 hook seemed to work just as well if not better. Some spodding also produced fish.

Were the facilities what you expected?

Facilities were as expected.

Were you happy with them?

The shelter on the island was very useful although we would suggest people be wary of leaving much "soft" kit there as rats will attack it for food. We had a canvas bucket and a rucksack badly damaged in this way. The shower and toilet were good and the kitchen well equipped; plenty of freezer and fridge space. There was evidence of mice but we lost nothing to them. The kitchen could have been cleaner but overall was typical of carp-lake accommodation.

Yes but as we were only two anglers we had reservations about the island accommodating four comfortably.

Richard was very helpful, friendly and a good host. He always told us when to expect him and didn't turn up unexpected. We put him in a WhatsApp group to help with simple questions.

We had 3 fish by the end of the week, the weather was insane though, 33 to 36 degrees. The fish spawned then just completely turned off.

Lake boilies red inferno, lake pellet and particles

Facilities were spot on extremely clean and everything you could want for a week fishing.

Absolutely yes beautiful place to be everything you could need for a weeks fishing and richard is a great host full of knowledge and a nice bloke.

Tough week, only 14 fish caught up to 36lb 11oz. The beginning of spawning killed off the action.

Having done a number of years doing “Drive and Survive” the facilities at Lillypool were more than adequate.

Excellent venue, great if you want a social. Plenty of power sockets on the island to charge everything you need. Richard has loads of knowledge to help with the fishing spots if you need it.
