About the Lake
Zentelles is a mature 7-acre gravel pit, rectangular in shape, with depths ranging from approximately 0.8-3 metres. One of the long banks has been left wild and untouched as a feature to fish towards, whilst the other long bank is home to swims 1 and 2. The final swim 3 sits on one of the shorter ends. A central island provides one of the main features to fish to between swims 2 and 3.
Anglers will be pleased to know that weed is not an issue, and there are no crayfish present. Poisson chat do exist in the lake; however, traps are actively used and a small population of catfish was introduced to feed on them, helping to keep their numbers under control. However, we recommend going prepared just incase and you can find plenty of tips over on our blog: Combatting Poisson Chat.
Each gravel swim is equipped with:
- Electrical terminal with four sockets (please bring adapters)
- BBQ and picnic table
- Dry toilet
- Room to park your vehicle
Vehicle access is excellent, with a gravel track leading directly to each swim. You are also able to park behind your swim for the duration of your stay. Caravans and motorhomes are permitted, with Swims 1 and 2 being the most suitable for larger setups.
You prebook your swims here at the point of booking, below you can find a description of each and the lake map.
Lake swim layout:
Swim 1 - To the left you have a wild margin with around 2 metres depth. Across from you is the far wild margin with approximately 1.2m of water. To the right, in open water adjacent to swim 2, depths reach up to 2.4m. A plateau sits directly in front of the swim at around 1.6m, offering a clear feature to target.
Swim 2 - To the left, you have open water next to swim 1, with depths of around 2.4m. On the far bank you have a wild margin with roughly 1.5m depth. The central area in front of the swim drops to around 2.5m and the right hand side gives you access to half of the lake’s central island. This swim is closest to the facilities block.
Swim 3 - Located on one of the shorter ends of the lake, this swim is a peninsula that comes out into the water. Towards the wild left bank averages around 1.8m in depth. In front of you is the central island with approximately 2.5m of water and a deeper hole dropping to around 3m. Towards the wild margin on the right holds an average depth of 2m. The trees on this peninsula provide plenty of shade.
Rowing boat & equipment provided
Unhooking mats and landing nets are provided free of charge on each swim. A rowing boat with oars is also provided at each swim free of charge. Lifejackets are supplied and must be worn at all times when using the boat. Please note that bringing your own boat is not permitted.
