Details: 21 x 30lb+ carp are stocked into Mas Bas
March 1st, 2010
The aim of this years re stocking at Mas Bas was to increase the numbers of 30’s. Gilles went up to the fish farmer at La Brenne in the west of France and picked 21 beautiful mirror carp, all between 30 and 35lb.
As you can see from the photos they are in absolutely prime condition and after the five hour journey, were eager to investigate their new home.
17 were put into the Main Lake and 4 into Lotus Lake.
These additional fish should provide some great sport for our visitors this year.
Best wishes,
Giles & Leslie

Details: Winter News from Mas Bas
We have been very busy at Mas Bas over this winter, planning improvements and restocking.
At the end of 2008 we re-stocked with ½ ton of grass carp between 1lb and 3lbs, and are hoping that they will start munching the early spring weed that caused us problems last year. Some of the grass carp from the last re-stock,two years ago are now 27lb+ beauties, and are caught regularly.
Gilles bought 25 Koi carp this week and is sourcing more in order to make 2009’s fishing more colourful.
More mirror and commons are arriving over the next couple of months so we will keep you posted.
Clearing up after the tremendous storm, which devasted much of the south west of france at the end of january, goes on..........we were very lucky, only losing a couple of big trees, roof tiles etc. The collecting of branches blown everywhere is becoming a nicer job now the weather is improving and the warmer, sunny days arrive.
Improvements to Lake House start at the beginning of March when the two upstairs bathrooms get facelifts with new tiles and paintwork, washbasins and curtains.
The exterior of the house is to be painted which will make a huge impact to the ‘look’ of Mas Bas on arrival. Also planned before the summer season is new tiling around the pool, the side terrace and under the veranda. Pics of the improvements will be on our page as soon as they are available.

Details: Linda makes a great start!
Angling Lines leading lady Linda Latham is taking a well earned break with us at the moment. Ever eager Linda turned up & had her rods straight out ... & within 2 hours landed this magnificent 42.09 mirror!
Liver B8 boilie fished over Halibut pellets, snowman rig & size 2 hook were the sucessful tactics. Caught just off the lilies in the Main Lake.
Linda flew here & hired our on-site tackle... so she certainly gave it an early test!
No doubt she'll have a few more befor she leaves

Details: Additional Stock Added !
Instead of the bright sparkling morning we had hoped for, Friday 23rd November was turning out to be a dull and overcast day with no good light to add a zing to our amateur snaps!
However, we were still enthusiastic and (reasonably) well prepared to receive our 85 mirror carp weighing an average of 17lbs each.
Our best fishing friends were on standby in their old kit prepared to get wet and smelly - they know the ropes by now. As the goal is to get the fish out of the oxygenated tanks and into the lake as quickly as possible - catching, counting and photographing these already stressed out animals turned the process into one that was impossible to choreograph gracefully.
After all the flapping and slapping and hurrying around was over, 60 had been put into the Main lake and 25 into the Lotus lake.
These additional fish should provide some good action whilst waiting for the biggies.... can't wait for the 2008 season to get underway!

Details: Ian Fox fishing Lotus Lake at Mas Bas
Ian Fox has really proved what Lotus Lake can produce. He was here at Mas Bas with Rachel for a weeks holiday during September. The weather was mixed, bit of light rain and a couple cloudy days interrupted a generally sunny week.
He caught 11 fish of which there were 4 x 40 lb mirrors the heaviest of which was 45lb, 3 x 30lb mirrors and 1 x 24lb and 3 upper double commons.
Needless to say he has broken his personal best a few times and definately wants to come back next year.
