New Arrivals For 2020

The final stocking in our 5 year plan for Lillybelle. With the fish removed in the netting, we decided on 16 new arrivals from 30 to 45lb and 2 very pretty low 20's that I just couldn't resist. I had to pull a lot of strings to be the first to get fish this year giving us the largest choice, thus 9 of these arrivals are commons in response to many guest's feedback.

Netting and Stock Management

We have completed our bi-annual netting and stock management on Lillybelle. The main purpose to prepare for this year's new arrivals.

This year's netting proved to be very challenging as we made the decision not to drain any water from the lake. Despite the difficulties in completing the netting, we still managed to get plenty of the fish in the net and removed all fish under 20lb, including carp and many adult bream.

Other highlights included weighing our lake record fish at an all time high of 51lb 6oz.

Festive fun at Lillybelle

After seeing fish on Christmas Day morning, I decided to dust the rods off and try my luck. 24 hours fishing, a hard frost and frozen kit were not enough to stop me banking 6 fish. 1x 40+, 1x 30+, 3x 20’s and an 18. Really successful short session!

Installing Solar Panels

We have recently cleared a dead tree from the island and have used the new space to install a couple of solar panels. Although fairly bare at the moment, this is work in progress and the surrounding vegetation will soon be back.

Low water Level - Part 2

With the lake reserved for works this week, I had the opportunity to carry out an experiment this weekend.

I decided to try and replicate a normal change over day, so invited a couple of friends to come and help me. I wanted to do a single 24 hour overnight session starting at 4pm (normal arrival time for Lillybelle) but I asked my friends to give me complete control over baiting and placement of rigs. Thankfully they both agreed.

After 18 hours of fishing and a completely sleepless night, we finished after at 10am managing 11 fish to 30lb+ with all 3 of us loosing a fish each on top. I think that the lack of rain and low water level is making the fishing a bit more sporadic, but far from impossible. The drop in temperature really helped us and we enjoyed a terrific little session.

Jul 2017
Low Water Level

It has been a very sunny and dry 2017 here in France and Lillybelle's water level has suffered as a consequence. We have had a couple of slower than expected weeks recently (along with 30+ deg weather!) and received concerns from a group reference the water level. With this in mind we wanted to make all future guests aware of the situation.

The lake when completely full has an area of 5.5 acres to around 6ft at its deepest, currently we think that around 4.5 acres to 4.5 feet deep are fishable. If you are due on the lake and have any concerns reference this, please contact us.

In regard to the fishing see low water level part 2. Attached are some lake shots from this weekend so you can see the levels for yourselves.
