The five of us arrived at Vincons around 3pm & our first impression was “WOW… is all this just for us… let’s have a beer to celebrate!”   To start with we chucked oily sticks out on 5/6 rods and unloaded the cars.  Not expecting to catch the first night we didn’t put any effort […]

Good carp care on the bank

Another great article from Andrew at Molyneux; So you’ve just caught your personal best, you know how to use the camera but now it’s time to pick the fish up. 1. Control the carp on the mat, if the fish is playing up then keep it in the sling and lift it off the mat […]

Pop-ups seem to be the way forward at Villefond carp lake

Mark Lambert’s 39lb Villefond mirror Recently a change seems to have taken place at Villefond.  Before the tactics that were the most productive and what I would have recommended would have been small beds of well placed bait. Now that seems to be changing and the most productive seems to now be a large bed […]

Molyneux still producing a high average size of carp

A good 30 from Molyneux There’s no doubt that Molyneux has produced a very high average size of carp this year.  The latest catch by Mr Napolitano proves the point; 18 carp to 33.08, including 5 x 30s, 3 x 29’s and 2 x 28’s with only 3 under 23lb. It’s quite clear that many […]

A progress report from Jason, the bailiff at Lillypool

Mark Sidery’s new Lillypool record – 42lb (May 2010) Following the stocking’s at Lillypool I was personally unsure as to what to expect from the lake and its visitors. We have all been very pleased with the results so far, with all fish putting on weight, some more than a few pounds. Fishing slowed a […]

A question of bait choice

Why is it anglers come to France having spent good money on their holiday, owning a fortunes worth of tackle including the latest rods, reels and bivvies… only to then try to catch fish on the cheapest bait they can buy?  Surely bait has to be one of the most important elements of the equation, […]

The importance of scales if you get that monster carp
