I wouldn't recommend this lake to any of are friends and family till the fish stock has been balanced out for all to enjoy.

General Comments:

The most disappointed thing was the advertisement forgot to explain the lake has had a fish kill with over 50+ regular carp fish back in 2014 after the fish restocking in 2012 explained by the owner and his family and of a out come in this matter the lake is greatly over stocked with Grass carp after catching over 25+ of them over the week and a number of cat fish and only 6 regular common and mirror carp out we are very experienced anglers with over 25y + experience we booked this lake me and my son because we loved the look of the fish shown on your advertised site, we strongly recommend you look into this matter for your future anglers and your very good reputation, that's why we book in confidence with you. **Angling Lines note** It was very disappointing to read this as we would never hide any of the lake's history - we talk about the virus in 2014 both on the main 'Carp' tab on Beaurepaire's webpage and also four different updates as it happened which can be found on the 'Latest News' section for the lake. The lake remains to have a very healthy stock of carp and we feel that the catch reports over the last three years since prove this. It is very unfortunate & unlucky that you had so many grass carp in one session, this is not a complaint we have had before, the last group's feedback shows they had 28 carp and only 7 grass carp. We will talk to the owners to evaluate the stocking and see if we can put a management system in place. Thank you for your feedback.

The majority of the fish caught was by using minimal freebies. Cell & Nutcracker Boillies and odd fish on Tiger nut hookbaits

This was our 3rd visit to the lake and whilst the facilities are basic they are adequate.

Were you happy with them?

Yes. Although the Shower could be slightly bigger

Yes. We have used the A.L team on numerous occasions and would have no hesitation in recommending your services.

General Comments:

The removal of the Catfish could be increased if an additional vat was placed in another location. Our party removed x2 Cats (Many thanks to our hosts for the 2 bottles of Champagne). In 2015 our party expressed concern that the works undertaken to the lake may create potential issues with fish migrating from 1 side of the lake to the other side due to both the limited 'cut' through and the water depth, this could easily be remedied if the depth was increased. On a positive note the fish seem to steadily growing and are in excellent condition and the venue's owners are both friendly and helpful.We are currently considering returning to the venue in 2020

General Comments:

Owners very helpful, lake seemed to be very Peggy with most fish coming from one swim.

Bit patchy as weather was very hot for the first 4 days, but mirrors caught 25lb x 2, 33lb x 1, 35lbx 1, 36lb 5oz x 1, 38lb 10oz x 1, 27lb 10oz x 1 grass carp, Catfish 59lb 2oz x 1, 13lb 6oz x 1 Bream 8lb x 1

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

Tried most tactics and baits, most results on bottom bait boilie, essential cell, CC Moore various, big catfish 21mm Halibut pellet with a scattering of Halibut pellet. Seems if you feed heavy, the Catfish take over the swim and push the carp out. There are measures in place to remove the catfish, there is a holding tank to put the cats in and the owner will remove them to another lake, a nice reward for doing this is given (bottle of champagne for every cat).

Were the facilities what you expected?

Yes, this is a very well kept lake and a pleasure to fish there. The kitchen has all the things you need, fridges, hotplate and microwaves. The other hut has a large freezer and battery charging for the electric boat plus a spare battery. The shower and toilet were clean and in good order, no smelly water as others have reported.

General Comments:

We all enjoyed the holiday and were very happy with the choice, one downside to the lake was the amount of bottle tops and discarded line around the swims !! There is no excuse for it as there are bins everywhere and Bernard empty's them every day if they are full. Bernard and Sophie are wonderful hosts and can't do enough to help you, if Bernard could speak English he would spend more time chatting and helping you with the reading of the lake, his Koi pond is a beautiful testament to his love of carp, that's what we couldn't understand people leaving so much crap in the swims !! Its a hazard to the lovely wildlife and true anglers.
