General Comments:

Managed to get back to venue only 3 weeks after last visit, fishing great as before. Booked knowing 4 anglers & me (knowing lake level was high) this is probably the max no. of anglers it can take if level high. Not many runs at night again, but even on hot days had carp on bottom baits. Mags, the misses, first time fishing & camping (bivvy) had a great time and a great tan, wants to go again. Don’t know for definite the others catches (totals) but the two lads from Wales on the far end had 2 x 37lb+ carp and 1 x 37lb+ cat (plus about 25 fish). Their fish averaged bigger than mine. This was only my second trip to France, booked venue again for next year. 40lb+ possible, runs definitely. Fished twice 7 anglers, 4 have had 30lb+ fish, all 7 anglers have had a new PB. Fish tight to feed areas and fish will come. Note to Northern carpers: I did the Hull to Zeebrugge crossing the first time, arrived relaxed & got home relaxed (only viable if you’ve booked the lake exclusively as you don’t arrive at the venue until 11am & there is no draw system in place – first there bivvy up first). Went Dover to Calais the second time, not much fun as I was the only driver. Venue owner a gent (& his family), nothing too much trouble, even jumped my car off for me.

General Comments:

Choose the venue because of the availability of the point to bivy up with the whole group. Unfortunate the point was flooded so we chose the south bank of the lake which appeared to be full with submerged bushes. We lost a number of fishes because of this and for half of the fish we landed we had to go into the water to free our line and fish of these bushes. Definitely will be back next year then later in the season to improve our changes to the point. One tip: at low water remove most of the bushes which are submerged at high water level for the safety of the fish.

Details of your catches:

41 fish up to a beautiful 37.5lb mirror 5 30s 4 doubles from 12lb to 17lb and the rest all 20s to 26.15 3 catfish to 25.09

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

we baited quite lightly to start with and the fishing was slow for the first 3 days trickling a little bait in every day until the fish started to wake up (they had been spawning the previous week and only 6 fish came out)most of our fish came to snowman rigs and surprisingly no one caught on a pop-up all week..we took a 13 year old lad whos best carp was a 9 pounder and he ended with the best fish of the week at 37.5lb awesome result.

Were the facilities what you expected?

basic but clean and tidy

Were you happy with them?

yes

Would you recommend the venue to a friend?

yes but be aware of the flooding issue

Would you recommend the services to a friend?

General Comments:

the lake was still in flood and we had to rake out a bit of weed once the swims were chosen..not a major issue. the weather was baking all week and the level dropped around 2 feet while we were there so the landing of fish got a little easier...if going take waders with you and you will have no problems (especially if the level is up a little) at times the fishing was hectic..overall a decent venue with some corking fish (all the fish we had were in mint condition)
