We had 70 fish out which indluded a 33lb mirror, 1 x 32lb cat , 30 different 20's and the rest were all between 14 and 20lb. We had 6 cats, 8 grass carp and the rest were all mirrors. All fish were in great condition and fought well

General Comments:

Caught nothing first 3 days tried all round the lake, so changed to particle spod mixes with maize on hook and started catching straight away. Venue was very clean and Mr Cousins the owner went out of his way to help us even though he can't speak english and we dont speak french. He's a real gent.

Details of your catches:

6 Mirror carp to 31.10.7 Catfish to 28.10

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

Carp never really got feeding and we stalked successfully as we had the lake to ourselves.Every night we had a catfish on various boilies over baited area. Many fish, mostly characteristic catfish runs, lost in submerged vegetation.

Were the facilities what you expected?

Yes basic but practical

Were you happy with them?

Very - we have been before

Would you recommend the venue to a friend?

Yes but it is not easy

Would you recommend the services to a friend?

Yes

General Comments:

The lake level fell a further foot whilst we were there meaning there was a peninsula and an island. The lake was actually quite beautiful at this level and many carp were visible patrolling the surface during the scorching heat.
Mn Cousins had the toilet sectioned off from the kitchen while we were there, much improving the hygiene of the facilities but the freezer was faulty so do not take bait that needs to be frozen.
Thanks to angling lines for their generosity to compensate for the disaster we had last year.
We want to come back and try to conquer this lake as we really did not get the carp going at all!

General Comments:

Managed to get back to venue only 3 weeks after last visit, fishing great as before. Booked knowing 4 anglers & me (knowing lake level was high) this is probably the max no. of anglers it can take if level high.

Not many runs at night again, but even on hot days had carp on bottom baits. Mags, the misses, first time fishing & camping (bivvy) had a great time and a great tan, wants to go again. Don’t know for definite the others catches (totals) but the two lads from Wales on the far end had 2 x 37lb+ carp and 1 x 37lb+ cat (plus about 25 fish). Their fish averaged bigger than mine. This was only my second trip to France, booked venue again for next year. 40lb+ possible, runs definitely. Fished twice 7 anglers, 4 have had 30lb+ fish, all 7 anglers have had a new PB. Fish tight to feed areas and fish will come.

Note to Northern carpers: I did the Hull to Zeebrugge crossing the first time, arrived relaxed & got home relaxed (only viable if you’ve booked the lake exclusively as you don’t arrive at the venue until 11am & there is no draw system in place – first there bivvy up first). Went Dover to Calais the second time, not much fun as I was the only driver.

Venue owner a gent (& his family), nothing too much trouble, even jumped my car off for me.
