News from Brocard Large lake

Aug 2015

Q&A, 12th Aug

Shaun Harrison at Quest Baits has kindly answered a few questions from an angler heading out to Brocard Large this August...

Q: I'm on peg 7, could you possibly steer me in the right direction - features and also any info on baits tactics etc?

A: I only ever went once and fished swim 5. There was no feature in front as such other than a very gentle slope shallower to my right, deeper to my left. This is typical of a lot of French venues that are drained and farmed so I did my usual thing of creating my own area with bait once it was apparent I had no particular depth change, bar, plateaux or weed. I simply chose a mark at a comfortable range and baited it quite wide fishing all 3 rods on it. This approach of attracting the fish to just one big area rather than 3 separate little areas has usually worked well for me.

The bait I used and caught on was Magnum White, again a bait that fish accept from the off. I have just come back from a trip to Italy and it again was the main bait I took.

If I were fishing 7 I would bait a diagonal line with the right hand rod between the bank and island on the right, Mid on the island margin and left further out. Bait a line between the 3 for more fish to hit and then travel along finding the hook baits.

Best of luck
Shaun

A few of the fish from Shaun's trip to Brocard

May 2015

Spawning, 29th May

Most of the fish have now spawned on Brocard Large.

Last week was a good week across both Brocard lakes with 23 Anglers catching 206 fish, 181 carp biggest 45lb, 24 grass carp biggest 60lb 4oz, 5 catfish biggest 79lb. A good week considering the carp were spawning on the big lake.

Breaking Down Brocard Large, 12th May

An insightful article from Andrew Gilbert following his trip to Brocard Large this April...

'Hello fellow anglers, it’s been a while since I’ve managed to put fingers to keyboard and write anything carp related.  A recent trip to Brocard Large has re-invigorated me to blow the dust off the PC and hopefully blog about something of interest for you good readers.

I won’t focus on my trip too much as it wasn’t the most successful of sessions, however having fished Brocard Large twice in the last six months I feel I’d like to share some insight for any prospective or already booked Brocard anglers.'
