Details of your catches:

One angler fishing from peg 1. 9 fish in total, Mirrors/Commons. Biggest 32lb, 6 between 23lb-29lb, 2 upper doubles.

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

Boilies fished over a small amount of pellet tight to the trees on the far bank and one or two fish from the channel to the left of the swim. Nothing on particle or Tiger nuts. All fish except one came between 11pm and 4am. No sign at all of any Crayfish.

Were the facilities what you expected?

Yes, not amazing but functional and clean. The Power is switched on Tues-Sat 9am-5pm.

Were you happy with them?

Yes, although a fridge/freezer would definitely be useful.

Would you recommend the venue to a friend?

Possibly.. Depending on what they were looking for as the number of bigger fish (30+) was disappointing.
Personally I wouldn't return because it's not the sort of water I normally fish but that's not a reflection of the quality of the venue.

Would you recommend the services to a friend?

Definitely! Excellent customer service.

General Comments:

A nice venue, well run and plenty of space.
Franck and Mark are nice guys, very helpful and welcoming.

I fished Saturday PM to Thursday AM in Peg 1. The swim is now all gravelled with no platform. As a result the ground is very hard so although nobody likes them, a mallet is vital for bivvy pegs and a Rod Pod essential.

There is enough room for two anglers and two bivvies, Frank also allows you to park behind the swim. The fishing was tough with a cold N/E wind all week and not many fish showing anywhere.

Peg 1 is relatively shallow, between 2 and 2.5ft all the way across although that obviously will depend on water levels through the year.

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

Fishing at night or early morning, tried most things in day time but was too hot, carp in the shallows

Were the facilities what you expected?

Yes fished here before

Were you happy with them?

Yes as I've fished this before

Would you recommend the venue to a friend?

Not really I wud if the power was on all week

Would you recommend the services to a friend?

Yes and have done

General Comments:

Hard weeks fishing, knew what to expect here apart from how hot it was, think the peg needs work on returning the fish in the dead of the night was hard as the water was so low, think it needs steps going into the lake as the water level drops like this every year. Mark and Franck are good guys and will help if u need anything.

*Angling Lines note* Thanks for the suggestion re: steps from the swims, we will pass this on to the lake.

Details of your catches:

Carp - 23lb, 25lb, 27lb, 27lb and 31½lb
Grass Carp - 43lb
Catfish - 60lb

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

Fished swim 4. The fishing was hard and no method or bait proved to be any better than any other. Lots of fish jumping but very few actually feeding.

Were the facilities what you expected?

Yes

Were you happy with them?

Yes, always clean and tidy but take some toilet roll as demand can outstrip supply.......

Would you recommend the venue to a friend?

Would recommend the venue to anyone who loves to fish, to be out with nature and away from noisy planes and cars. No light pollution meant a star filled sky every clear night. It is a lake where you feel you have the whole place to yourself. If your idea of fishing is sitting around a muddy puddle watching everyone else then forget it. Frankie the bailiff is a legend and the icing on the cake. Very nice bloke with a great sense of humour and a vast knowledge.

Would you recommend the services to a friend?

Service was very good. Plenty of information, great prices. The only thing I would add would be an option to use Eurotunnel as well as the ferries because Dover is an absolute nightmare now. 45 minutes to get out of Dover after leaving the port !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

**Angling Lines note** We do offer alternative crossings including Eurotunnel and we're really sorry this obviously wasn't made clear enough at the time of booking. You can now get an online quote for each crossing (P&O, Eurotunnel & Brittany) before you book too.

General Comments:

We thoroughly enjoyed our trip and was actually wishing we had booked two weeks. Plenty to see nearby, plenty of shopping for food locally or for other stuff at Saint Dizier and Troyes. The fishing, although hard this year, was great and it was just such a lovely place to be. Wouldn't hesitate to go back and would use very happily Angling Lines as well.
