Fishing was poor, probably because of the algae. We had had 4 cats to 75lb and 6 carp to 40lb between 3 very experienced carp anglers. We saw little or no movement in the lake and nobody had a run in the last 3 days of the holiday.

*Angling Lines note* We are incredibly sorry that you had such an unproductive week. The owners understand that the algae is not nice to look at - it is the result of exceptional weather conditions across France this summer. However, they assure us that the oxygen levels in the water are acceptable. The owners are fish farmers with generations of experience so we have to accept their opinion on this, coupled with previous catch reports.

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

Not enough action to be able to say with any confidence, we all tried the far margin and when that proved in-effective tried moving off the far bank. Didn't make much difference. As we were all trying different baits to steal a run it's difficult to highlight any one.

Were the facilities what you expected?

No, much worse. In fact the worst facilities we have come across since we started fishing in France in 2009.. As a minimum we expect a clean WC with a light. We got a horrible dirty toilet which we had to share with 4 strangers and no light. Showers were good but not to UK standards of cleanliness.
*Angling Lines note* Other customer feedback tells us that our description of them as ‘very basic’ is accurate – we know they’re some of the simplest we have on our books and make sure to display photos online. HOWEVER, any cleanliness issues (over and above what you’d expect from a week’s use) we would absolutely have addressed if made aware at the time. You definitely should have clean facilities - but the owner should also have the opportunity to put it right at the time.

We had major problems with rats and feral cats, we put traps down and caught 20 rats in 4 days. They were everywhere, in the bivvy's under bed chairs in the cook tent. They even managed to get up on the tables in the cook tent. None of the party has ever seen so many rats at a venue. The cats followed them and destroyed the cook tent every night. It wasn't nice being woken during the night with a rat on your bivvy table or under your bed chair.
*Angling Lines note* We agree that would have been very unpleasant, this was the first time a customer has reported an issue with rats and if made aware at the time we would have made sure the owners brought traps down. He has now acted to resolve the issue.

The lake is nowhere near the advertised 5 acres, I have since measured it at about 170,000ft2 which is marginally under 4 acres.
*Angling Lines note* We measure it at 4.5 acres using the google maps area calculator and we have now amended the site to account for that 0.5 of an acre. The original size of 5 acres was taken from property deeds - we appreciate how important accuracy is and wholeheartedly apologise for this.

The banks are in a terrible and dangerous state and landing heavy cats or launching and retrieving boats is really difficult and dangerous.
*Angling Lines note* Again, no other feedback this year mentions this. We do however appreciate water levels are lower across France and have asked the owner to look as to whether there is an issue because of this.

This is the worst Angling Lines venue we have fished (and we've fished a fair few) Would we recommend the venue, absolutely not unless you want to catch Weil's disease

Made complaints to Angling Lines bout the rats, the green algae, the exaggerated size of the lake, the feral cats, the facilities and the state of the banks. Angling Lines not interested, very disappointed.

General Comments:

We've been using Angling Lines since 2009 and have become used to nice, productive and safe venues. This venue does not fall under any of these descriptions. We've already booked next years holiday, that will be the last with Angling Lines.

*Angling Lines Note* This feedback was raised by the client upon their return, we then systematically addressed every issue raised with the owner and have since spoken to the customer in full regarding every point via email and telephone - we absolutely care if a customer believes there is a problem with their holiday and would always investigate thoroughly.

Hard week due to crazy hot weather!!! Ended up with 30 plus fish out, cats and carp with 3xbream...

Rest decent 20s with 2/3 under 20lb mark..

Most carp caught down the bottom end where trees are and most cats other end where facilities are....middle quiet all week, 98% fish all caught far bank between 2 and 5 rod lengths off bank. Like I mentioned crazy hot with hot water temperature made it a difficult week but all the party caught something nearly all fish caught was during the night when temperature drops...bailiffs where great and always a phone call away for anything we needed.

Bottom baits and waffters over decent size bed of partical....far bank is your best bet for a run..

Showers are really hot and get good shower time per token....freezes could be bigger but overall no complaints
