Three anglers fished the two swims down the shallow end off the lake.
We didn't have a great week only catching 7 carp and 6 catfish between us.
The lake description says it is a runs water we didn't find that to be the case we found it very disappointing for three very experienced carp anglers.
The catfish seem to be the majority off the stock in the lake it could do with some more carp stocked into it. There seems to be a lot off bream in the lake with one of our group catching 10 + on small baits just to get a bit off action.

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

Snowman rigs or double boilie to avoid the bream.

Were the facilities what you expected?

The showers were hot but very basic they could really do with a clean up or painting the walls had mould coming up from the floor.
The fridges and lockers for keeping bait and food cold were good but instead off padlocks on the fridges and lockers maybe put proper locks on the doors and give a key to the groups of guests staying at the venue.

Lots of catfish and grass carp, not very many carp. 70 fish up to 80lb

General Comments:

Greats runs lake and helpful owners. Caught fish out of every swim up to 80lb.
Facilities were good, hot shower, wc and fridge and freezers.

Details of your catches:

A hard week of minus temperatures and a few wet day but still managed over 30 fish between 4 anglers.
1x 55lb common, 1x 52lb 12oz common, lots of 30s.
Plus a 95lb cat, 85lb cat, 81lb cat, 75lb cat plus a few cats from 45lb up and 1x 31lb grass carp

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

A mixture of snowmen with 15mm bottom baits and 12mm or mini pop up toppers and 12mm popup rigs and some larger baits for the cats. Dna the bug mainline cell and essential cell and sticky krill and manila with house particle and pellets

Fridges and freezer are cold, the toilet and shower were nice and clean, the water was nice and hot and electric to charge your bits. Everything you need for a drive and survive

General Comments:

Cyril was very nice and couldn't do enough, sorted some wood so we could use the fire pit and nothing was too much for him, great guy. There is a takeaway called good food 10mins away, a bakery and a shop next door so everything you need to keep you going

Details of your catches:

23 fish between 2 anglers mainly cats, biggest catfish was 95lb, smallest was 75lbs, grass carp up to 35lb and 2 mirrors one at 25lb and one at 30lb.

Were the facilities what you expected?

Shower and toilet facilities were spot on basic as to be expected but were always clean, there are some problems with fish tangled in line and some dead around the islands at the bottom though, there is ALOT of line in the water somebody on another peg went in in waders and got wrapped in the line and it's everywhere we told the owners and they didn't seem fussed at all, there was also a lot of green algae across the lake which seems to happen around the same time every year here.

Were you happy with them?

Overall happy with the facilities but the line problem needs addressing as its causing harm to the fish.

Would you recommend the venue to a friend?

Overall the venue was good, quiet location shops only 15 mins away, clean toilets and showers, but the issues of the line need to be addressed because there are fish that have died there and more are likely too, we picked up two carp dead out of the water ourselves that week and also the silt / algae issue needs addressing.

Yes service from angling lines was fantastic as always

General Comments:

Good lake to fish just feels a bit neglected, there is heavy green algae over the top end of the lake and it is very silty, avoid fishing by the bottom island because there are fallen trees everywhere at the bottom and no end of line wrapped around everything down there and be very careful in waders at the bottom end.

The algae that presents itself on this lake in hot weather is common each year and we agree very green, but it is entirely natural and oxygen levels are tracked throughout the hotter months. It does not affect the fishing in this regard.
