Details of your catches:

We only managed 4 fish.
21lb, 24lb, 32lb & 40lb

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

Didn't get a chance to find a "best" tactic or bait but tried every type of rig and bait under the sun but to no avail. The fish just were not feeding due to, I believe, the temp being in excess of 33 degrees most days. Three of the fish we caught were at night and the other was on one of the cooler days. Very fraustrating.

Were the facilities what you expected?

Yes.

Were you happy with them?

The facilities were ok. Its a hell of a trek to the toilet and shower so its advisable to take a bike. The toilet/kitchen was overrun with swarms of ants come nightfall. The fridge was useful for storing food and there is plenty of freezer space available.

No.

I would happily recommend angling lines to my friends - very helpful and efficient.

General Comments:

The lake was teaming with rats. As soon as the sun set the rats came out to play, running amongst our bivvies with gay abandon. We had 5 rigs eaten by rats, would reel in after a night without a bite to find the rig had been chewed off completely, or the hookbair missing. This definately contributed to a lack of runs during the night. The rats also caused multiple false runs, seemingly picking up the hookbait on the lakebed and attempting to swim off with it. We also caught a rat, hooked through the right hand with a size 6 nash fang twister, this was the consequence of my friend hitting a supposed run on his bite alarms. The rats and lack of fish made for an extremely disappointing visit to JC7. The rat problem needs sorting asap as its not fair on those going on a once-a-year fishing trip only to be fighting off and catching rodents for 7 days.

**Owners note** This is the first big complaint we have heard regarding rats, I have set out traps and will actively work to combat this.

Fishing to far margins baiting with Pellets and Cell Boilies. Hookbaits either bottom baits or wafters tipped with plastic corn.

Could have done with another shower as the facilities are shared for both lakes. Large chest freezer a nice bonus.
