General Comments:

Mark and his partner went over and above on every level, Mark could not have given more help but as already said it was unfortunately a very hard week. I’ve visited multiple lakes in France and Mark is by far the best host we have ever had he knows his stuff and the food package was also great, thank you. I will definitely be back.

Details of your catches:

8 of us fishing with a total of around 35 fish up to 53lb. A cracking week given that they had just finished spawning and temperatures reaching nearly 40 degrees.

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

Small quantities worked best at this time of year sweetcorn tin size of pellet, 10-20 boils a tin of pellet worked well. Whereas one of our guys pilled it in and only caught 1 fish.

Were the facilities what you expected?

The facilities were clean, well equipped (except mugs) and more power sockets for charging batteries, phones and headlights. Luckily with 30yrs + of going to France we know to take extension leads with multi English sockets. With 3 lakes using the facilities we would have been in trouble without them, also a separate sink for the toilet area as only one in the kitchen and shower.Likewise more showers as with 13 people on site it could have been a problem and losing time waiting instead of fishing.

Were you happy with them?

The carp cradles were the best I have ever used and exceptionally safe for the fish. We do understand that due to Covid it delayed the building plans and all of the above will be extended shortly. It would have been nice to buy hemp as we expected to buy it. Marks answer was it is too expensive here in France, but knowing what most carp anglers pay for bait I do not think that they would not buy it.

Would you recommend the venue to a friend?

Most definitely probably the most scenic lake I have ever fished in over 30yrs+. The wildlife was amazing, black kites, osprey, and a host of other birds coupled with the pine martins, musk rats etc etc and don't forget the Fallow deer. Mark is the most experienced bailiff I have ever meet (not some English idiot taking a holiday like most), his knowledge of the lake and tactics were responsible for my PB grass carp as the bites I have never encountered before as they do not scream off just bit bib bibdy bib. Nothing was too much trouble for him even to the extent of giving us a demo with different bait boats and his personal tackle (made my rods look like Micky Mouse had made them). Plus a lot larger Bivvy which I had been looking for and purchased off him. A happy chappie with funny tales of what he has to cope with over the years. His wife Anita will do nothing for your diet as the food was excellent and the helpings were enormous, a terrific cook.

As we have been with your company so many times over the yrs I place you at No 1 in France for holidays and would not probably actually recommend any else. It was only spoilt by the Ferry operator P&O, I won't go into all the faults but Fred Carno comes to mind. Having spent 3hrs driving to Dover in the expectation of getting a hot meal on the ferry was dissatisfied that no hot food except a take away Pizza could be purchased going out or coming back. 40 mins in a queue to get a coffee and a sandwich and why had they moved us to a later time when we could clearly see they were going across nearly empty and a ghost ship best describes our crossing. I know you put the ferry crossing on the package but our parties and other anglers on the boat all said that they would never go P&O again and rather pay for a different operator (DFDS) or take the tunnel. *Angling Lines note* Thank you for your kind feedback Michael. We agree that the issues with P&O have not been helpful this Spring, you can choose any of the other routes at the point of booking your holiday if you would prefer another.

General Comments:

To sum it up an excellent trip with superb facilities and fishing accompanied by the most helpful, experienced friendly bailiff and wife you could ever wish to meet.
