Swim 2 - 16 fish, biggest carp 50lb, biggest catfish over 140lb (biggest set of scales we had weights up to 137lb and it went past that)

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

Match the hatch wafters over Atlantic Heat boilies, rebaiting every 2 hours because of the crayfish, then plastic baits at night just so you could keep a bait in the water seemed to work best

Were the facilities what you expected?

Yes just a bit of updating the kitchen area and the shower and toilets would be nice, its our 3rd year now and nothing seems to have changed but we still managed OK

Yes, as said could do with updating

General Comments:

If your looking for a lake thats nice and quiet then La Fonte is definitely the place. Jean Jaques the chef does a great job and Phillipe the owner makes you very much welcome

Were the facilities what you expected?

No they are very tired and in need of a lot of upgrades and maintenance.

They didn’t spoil the trip but I wouldn’t return which is a shame as the lake has great potential.

General Comments:

The chef Jean-Jacque was an amazing guy and made up for the poor facilities. The owner was a nice guy but clearly doesn’t invest any time or money into the venue.
The lake has a real bad crayfish issue, no matter where you place your rig they are onto it immediately, which made it hard to be confident you had any bait left on the rig.

12mm pink pop ups over small scattering of corn definitely produced the most fish.

Perfectly adequate. We have no complaints at all

General Comments:

What a fantastic week we have had.
We started with a bit of carp depression due to 3 solid days of biblical rain but as soon as that passed the week really got going. We had multiple double takes and a treble take resulting in the biggest fish in the lake.
The food was good and having a chat with phillippe was very interesting.
He has a very interesting background and well worth a chat. He was a very polite lovely guy as were all of the staff.

Details of your catches:

Top rod of the week had 1x 50, 3x 40’s and a mixture of 20’s & 30’s, totalling 12 fish in total but sadly lost 3 or 4.
2nd place was 5 fish (2x 50’s and 3x 30’s and lost 2).
3rd place was 4 fish (1x 50, 1x 40, 1x 30 & 1x 20)
4th with 1x 16lb and 5th was a blank.

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

Some found bags worked. Other fish were taken over pellets, boilies and maggots.

Were the facilities what you expected?

Yes no complaints at all. I personally didn’t have the food package but the boys who did said the food was lovely and all came back a lot heavier then they left.

Were you happy with them?

It’s a basic kitchen along with bathroom and shower but all worked and like I said no complaints.

Yes and already have

Used you a number of times now and will continue to do so in the future. Make the organisation of the trip easy with one point of contact if needed but never had an issue to date.

General Comments:

It can be a miss leading water seeing its small. She can turn tricky on you for no reason at all. Keep plugging away at the same spots and the fish will come they don’t seem to like being chased around (I made that mistake and cost me 48 hours with nothing). The owner was lovely and came checked on us a number of times. I called to say the cooker had stopped working and it was fixed the same day and he was so apologetic even with it not being a big problem to us as we have used our stoves. Philippe is not looking to run this as a mass French commercial fishery just a lovely, peaceful water with stunning surroundings and good fishing. Fitted the bill for what we were looking for.
