Mas Bas Lotus Lake

About the Lake

The 2 lakes on the complex (Main Lake & Lotus Lake) are over 50 years old and still contain some of the original stock fish. Lotus is the smaller of the two lakes but still has a healthy head of approximately 110 carp - meaning the fishing is generally easy and produces plenty of runs!

The cottage sits right on the bankside and most anglers fish directly from the terrace, although you have other options further down the bank if you wish. Lotus lake is around an acre in size and generally only fished by 1 or 2 anglers.

The lake has snags and fallen trees furthest away from the accommodation and generally has some Lotus lilies in the far margins. There have been no reported issues with weed. The outlet of the stream running through both lakes is to the rear of the cottage, so the fish are also attracted close in here.

There may be a few poisson chat but they don't seem to cause any issues for anglers at all. Crayfish can be present at Mas Bas (as with many lakes in France) and so if you are fishing in the hot summer months when they are most active it is best to go prepared - you can find lots of information here for combatting crayfish in France. We recommend using tiger nuts if the crayfish are active during your week.

Important note; A French fishing licence is required at this venue. The cost is included and is arranged each week directly by Gilles the owner.
