Latest feedback from Old Oaks, 1st Mar

Just received (29th March) this feedback from Old Oaks by text message;

Hi Linda, Little up date for you. The weather for first few days very wet and cold fishing has been a challenge. We have had seven fish so far... I have had four 21, 23, 33,38, 40 all been a little bit over. Luke a lovely common of 34 and my dad a 24 lb mirror. All mine have been mirrors. Quest Fruity Trifle has done three of my fish last was on two bits of fake large sweet corn, Lukes on solar secret with a tiny pineapple snowman style, my dads was on two bits of fake corn. Seems sweet baits are in order at mo. Chats are inactive at mo which is good. Sorry for grammar and dictation tired and off to bed now. But have feeling a big common is coming my way. Take care, Adrian

Old Oaks owner grows the European Record Pumpkin!, 1st Dec

Extract taken from Carp-Talk on-line; So why on earth do we have a picture of the new (1,611lb) European Record pumpkin in this week’s Carp-Talk Xtra?

Well firstly it was grown by Mehdi Daho who is the owner of the popular Angling Lines venues Old Oaks & Laroussi and secondly he decided to put the outer flesh of the fruit to good use and what could possibly be better than turning it into a water going vessel capable of holding up to six people! He then put the pumpkin/boat to better use, using it to land a couple of hard fighting carp from his own lake, the biggest of which was this 40lb specimen below.

The fish fell for a Quest Baits Fruity Trifle boilie.

August News from Old Oaks...., 1st Aug

Some good fish have been caught from Old Oaks in recent weeks. The famous big common came out at a lake record weight of 42lb 4oz by Simon Boi Party. Simon also landed the yellow catfish after a 1 hour fight. This superb yellow fish was stocked 3 years ago at 33lb. Simon had it at 51lb.

The second catfish has also been caught at a lake record weight of 60lb! Since the beginning of the season several 40+ carp have been out. Up to now no one has caught the big fully scaled stocked 3 years ago. It will be a big surprise!

The poisson chats have stayed very, very quiet this season. Very few have been caught during the whole season, some weeks seeing zero and the worse week with 7 or 8.... not a problem at all. We do trap them regularly to regulate them. The catfish and the black bass help a lot too.

Other good news, some carp and grass carp came out off the top which is rare in France. So don't forget your mixers!

Tight Lines, Mehdi
