Difficult to get through the Poisson Chat which were very active and ate everything we put into the lake.

I'd definitely recommend the venue, but not during the summer months. The Poisson Chat were numerous and very active which was a bit disappointing having read that their numbers have been reduced over recent years. It made fishing very difficult to the point that we moved to Laroussi on the Wednesday.

yes - Angling Lines great as usual.

General Comments:

A difficult week of fishing, but still a good trip...
Mehdi a lovely guy as mentioned before numerous times - happy to see you and made sure that we were ok on the 1st Day. Offered to let us fish Laroussi as Old Oaks was fishing very poorly with the Poisson Chat activity. Laroussi was beautiful and very scenic, Old Oaks felt a bit more 'commercial' with formed swims etc but both lakes were well maintained and offered great options for fishing.
Can't help feeling that a bit more effort could be being made to reduce the Poisson Chat numbers in Old Oaks - especially given there aren't any in Laroussi showing they can be removed. Mehdi said he traps in the lake, so perhaps an increased number is required to get them under control in the short term. Appreciate it's not a simple task, but when you continually see a pack of them clear a spot you bait in the margin within 5 minutes it's pretty demoralising.
Laroussi was beautiful and really enjoyed doing a couple of nights on there despite not catching - would definitely like to return for a full week in the future.
Supermarkets within 10 minutes were good, and went to 'Wake Paradise' for lunch one day, just up the road, lovely setting by a lake and good food.

A Memorable Fishing Experience at Old Oaks Carp Lake

We recently had the pleasure of fishing at Old Oaks Carp Lake, and I must say it was an exceptional experience. From the serene surroundings to the superb fishing opportunities, this place truly exceeded my expectations.
First and foremost, the fishing at Old Oaks was outstanding. We managed to land 10 carp during our visit, and each one provided a thrill. The lake itself is well-maintained. The fish species we caught were carp (mirror and common) and a nice grass carp.

However, what truly made out visit unforgettable was the owner, Mehdi. From the moment we arrived, Mehdi's warm hospitality and genuine passion for fishing were evident. He went above and beyond to ensure that all anglers had everything they needed for a successful and enjoyable fishing experience.
Mehdi's dedication to customer satisfaction was truly remarkable. His attention to detail and willingness to assist with any request made the entire experience even more enjoyable. Mahdi's love for his craft and his commitment to providing an exceptional fishing experience was truly commendable.

In addition to the fantastic fishing and the owner's exceptional hospitality, Old Oaks Carp Lake also offers a beautiful and peaceful setting.

In conclusion, we definitely recommend Old Oaks Carp Lake to any angler looking for an incredible fishing experience although the lake can be challenging. The 10 carp we caught were just the icing on the cake. Mahdi, the owner, deserves special recognition for his remarkable dedication and passion. I am already looking forward to my next visit to Old Oaks Carp Lake, where I know I will be greeted by Mahdi's warm smile and enjoy another fantastic day of fishing.

Yes never had a problem with angling lines in 14 years of going to france

General Comments:

All in all a very hard and frustrating week, 8 of the fish including 3 over 50 up to 56.14 come from peg 1.
They didn’t seem to want to move up the lake, peg 2 had 2 fish to 38, peg 3 didn’t produce a fish, peg 4 had a 46.14 at 7am Saturday morning - what a blank saver, peg had a 24lb grassy again Saturday morning 3am. We tried different distances from far bank different baits nothing made a difference, Mehdi is a top bloke, he was at loss as why we weren’t catching as well.

We've fished Old Oaks before, so we knew the swims and that most of the fish get caught tight-over on the far shelf, either next to or under the vegetation. However, when this doesn't repeatedly work, you can catch in open water especially on swim five. We caught on both boilie and fake corn.

Were the facilities what you expected?

Everything you could ask for; clean shower and toilet, plenty of freezer and fridge space.

Yes; some wonderful special fish to be caught. We were lucky enough to have caught the Long Common last time we were at Old Oaks. With this, the Fox Common estimated to be in the upper seventies and now several 60 plus mirrors, Old Oaks is a phenomenal French venue.

General Comments:

Difficult week with so many of the large fish being caught the previous weeks, conditions changed to bright clear days, high pressure and a very cold north easterly wind. Unfortunately, with this change of weather; a combination of abundant light, warmer water temperature and stable wind conditions created a slight algae bloom, which made for demanding conditions. However, we were pleasantly surprised with the fish we did managed to catch.
A special thank you to Medhi (the lake owner) he really is a one off, so much knowledge and enthusiasm, if we were to give you one tip when visiting Old Oaks or Laroussi, is to listen to Medhi's advice and guidance. We have fished many French venues and have met many lake owners, Medhi is up there as one of the most genuine of them all.
