Details of your catches:

53lb 8oz mirror
40lb common
39lb mirror
36lb mirror x2
18lb common
20lb and 30lb grass carp
Few Poisson chat

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

Pop ups with rubber toppers wrapped to stop Poisson Chat eating boilies.
Far margin under anything overhanging.
Small amount of bait over every spot every hour to keep bait in the water before small fish clear you out. Cell and partimix

Were the facilities what you expected?

Everything needed was there. Note. Only 3 toilet rolls supplied for 5 people for a week so will need to take your own

Were you happy with them?

Yes

Would you recommend the venue to a friend?

Few snags in the water and no boat available which can be frustrating as 3 decent fish were lost. Removed two trees from water whilst there to untether a carp in front of swim 1

Yes

General Comments:

Good weeks fishing although weather was all over the place. We would come again

General Comments:

Conditions were difficult, high pressure and easterly wind all week . Every bite was worked for but worth it . Caught 5 Poisson Chat and a few Bream. Shrink wrapping baits wasn’t always essential as the numbers of chat have declined, but certain areas held pockets of them.

Mehdi as friendly and helpful as ever. Keeping the Poisson Chat numbers down has been a massive priority for him which I’m sure will be an endless control program for him. So well done Mehdi so far and good look with the constant thinning out of these little critters. The work on the swims and maintenance around the lake was immediately apparent to us. All in all a tough week fishing, but a great place to be. Roll on 2021 when we’re back again.

x3 50s. - (51lb / 53lb and 55.7lb)
x8 40s
x1 30s
x1 14lb

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

Far bank and within a rod length, sometimes in 3/4ft of water. Pops worked (pink and yellow) as did bottom baits. Over partiblend. Little and often worked, we didn’t bait up heavy.

Were the facilities what you expected?

Yes, as photos helped. Basic, but adequate

Would you recommend the services to a friend?

Yes absolutely

General Comments:

We arrived in a hail storm, not good for May and very much unseasonable weather. Medhi was there to meet us at the gate with that useful warm smile and showed us around the lake. We got a break in the weather to set up and within 2 hrs we were onto our first fish - 41lb Mirror. Promising start.
However, the first night saw the temp drop to below 0c, which produced no fish!

The following morning the lake looked like a painting (see pics), the mist on the water was lit up by the sunrise, but still no fish!

The next 2 days the weather never got above 14c and none of us caught. It is starting to look grim.

It was Wednesday morning when a change of luck, weather improved and started with a 3 beep drop back. - Landing a 53lb Mirror.
5 fish landed on Wednesday, so things turning around. Thursday produced another 4 fish and Friday a further 3.

The swims are quite tight together so the 4 of us chose to fish 1 & 2 and 4 & 5.

In summary.... this is ‘moody lake’ it can switch on and off. If you get the right week you’re in for a great time, but the fish are wise. Stick to what you know, as it can play tricks with you to try everything!

Little and often bait seemed to work and they seem to shy away from big beds of bait! Mehdi has done a great job in removing a lot of the Poisson Chat, but they are still active catching a few! Wrapped baits seemed to work.
