Details of your catches:

31 fish in total, largest 56 pound mirror.

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

We found large beds of boilies the best tactic. This was different from previous trips which were more "one fish at a time" small trap tactics.

"On The Bank Live"/First4Fishing visit to Old Oaks.

Well... what a great week, and more importantly what an amazing last 12 hours of fishing. We ended up with 22 fish in total between 2 of us and had 3 x 50s on the last night/morning!!

Tom Robson - 14 Carp - 11 carp from peg 2, 1 carp from peg 1 and 2 carp from peg 5.

3 x 50s - 53.10 Common ("Pizza Box Common"), 53lb Mirror, 51lb Mirror
5 x 40s inc 2 x 48s
5 x 30s
1 x double - fully scaled

Ian Gwatkin - 8 Carp
1 x 50
3 x 40s
4 x 30s

7 carp from peg 3, 1 carp from peg 1.

We will be putting the DVD from the trip on youtube in Jan accompanying the last DVD we did of Old Oaks (Youtube - On The Bank Live - Old Oaks)

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

First 4 Fishing RedBall + C-Nut Boilies snowman with Victory Baits Bedlam did most of the damage. Had a few fish on plastic baits.

The fish came after heavy baiting on the back shelf in peg 2 with around 15-20kgs of boilies over 3 days.

The fish are now very nomadic given the removal of the snags, as such I had a number of fish on the nearside margin between peg 1 and 2. Also a large number of fish came around 20 yards from the opposite bank, this being the complete opposite to what we are used to on previous trips having fished feet off the far margin.

Were the facilities what you expected?

This is my third visit to Old Oaks, and as per usual facilities are superb. Mehdi is great and left us to it all week. Cant wait to get back

Were you happy with them?

Of course.

Would you recommend the venue to a friend?

Yes, my favourite venue in France

Would you recommend the services to a friend?

Yes, of course.

General Comments:

This is arguably the best venue in France for big fish/lake exclusive, facilities are top notch, Mehdi has done a fantastic job with the overall fishery and fish management.

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

We all used different tactics and different baits between us. Cell boilies, pineapple boiles, home made boilies, stinky fish boilies. Various pop up baits. Pineapple and toffee cream wafters. Peg 2 and 3 fished tight to the far bank in the evenings boating out quantities of boilies. Peg 4 fished tight and a couple rod lengths off the far bank, this aso worked. Peg 5 didnt use the boat and was generally a couple rods off the far bank or the far corner. Most fish seemed to come out from mid night and until mid morning. Peg 3 refused to bring his rods in and would get a 4 o'clock bite. Some takes were within minutes of casting out and twice, once on peg 5 and once on peg 3 there were 2 fish on the bank at the same time. We all used different rigs set ups but all used back leads. You will end up casting all of your rods out each time you catch a carp if you dont.

Were the facilities what you expected?

Exactly what we expected and more than suffice. Medhi's wife came and gave the cabin a mid week clean (thank you).

Were you happy with them?

Toilet was fine, shower was lovely and hot. Cabin has drinking water also so dont take gallons of water with you. Charging point was spot on and kept the I phones fully chaged and allowed the cheaters to keep the boat fully charged. Freezer and fridge more than adequate.

Would you recommend the venue to a friend?

Yes we would but they would have to take us with them. Where else can you catch this many large carp.

Would you recommend the services to a friend?

Angling Lines were spot on. They were filming at Laroussi (this is Medhi's other lake just over the road) they came over to meet us. Heather and Bridget were great, they showed real interest and were genuinely keen about our fishing experience. They were also a welcome sight after a few days of male only company beside the lake. Whilst at our lake they took some photos and interviewed us. (Great to meet you girls and thank you.)

General Comments:

Fantastic week. Medhi is great and really knows his stuff. He is a world champion at what ever he turns his hand to. He speaks great english and is very helpful. He makes sure your ok and then leaves you to fish. He leaves you his mobile number and is available if you need him for anything. We would love to go back, this lake is going to get better year after year. The fish are all in top condition. I am coming back for the Long Common.
