Details of your catches:

I booked on as a non exclusive at very short notice, upon arrival there were a couple of local anglers on in peg 1 and 3 so I opted for peg 5 (which is where I had in mind in any case). Sunday morning I lost a very big fish, would have almost definitely been the fish of the trip as it turned out ... GUTTED!! Almost to the min 24 hrs later I had a small common of 21lb then they must have left me as peg 1 produced a couple of fish so I decided on Thursday after it had been vacated for 24 hrs to move into peg 1 ... As i was leaving peg 5 I had a 24lb mirror, now the dilemma weather to move or not ... I decided to continue with the move to peg 1 and it appeared to have paid off ... I had a 33lb mirror that evening followed by a 17lb fully scaled mirror the following morning, Then the final morning as I was just about to think about packing away I had a take and slipped the net under a 36lb mirror that looked stunning in the morning winter sun.

I didn't manage to get into any of the big girls on this trip, In fact Mehdi said he didn't think anybody ever caught 3 fish under 30 in a week .... But for February I am pleased with 5 fish, its the figure I had in mind before I went ( just much bigger ) ..... Next time I will get one of the A team!!

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

Fishing a couple of rod lengths off the far bank feeding small amounts of bait.

Were the facilities what you expected?

Yes I have been many times before

Were you happy with them?

Yes

Would you recommend the venue to a friend?

Yes... It is by no means an easy water but the rewards are there to be had.

Would you recommend the services to a friend?

Yes ... Angling lines were great, I had some holiday to use from work and with very short notice they arranged and booked everything for me, communicated everything to me, even contacted them a couple of times out of hours for a couple of questions re ferry and they were always more than willing to help.

General Comments:

I love Old Oaks, Its tough fishing but I will be back.

66-5 Mirror
53-6 Mirror
50-1 Mirror
45-12 Common
46-6Mirror and 46-8 Mirror

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

The three biggest fish came fishing single hi attract hookbaits at the bottom of the shelf and the other three came over light baiting of house pellet and boilie.

Were the facilities what you expected?

Yes I’ve been a few times now

Were you happy with them?

Yes everything you need.

Would you recommend the venue to a friend?

Yes, Old Oaks is a great venue run by an all round lovely fella Mehdi who leaves you to it but is always on hand if needed.
It isn’t an easy water and can be very moody but when they’re in the mood the average size of fish is fantastic.

Would you recommend the services to a friend?

Yes

General Comments:

I timed it just right and although it was really icy cold when I set up a nice southerly came in and the fish switched on. You have to make the most of it while they’re in the mood on Old Oaks as they have an uncanny knack of switching off as quick as they turn on. All the bites came from the bottom of the marginal shelf fishing hinged chod rigs as there was a lot of leaf debris on the bottom.
