About the Lake
The 12.5 acre lake sits securely in a totally private 15 acre fenced plot, with open grassy banks lined with mature willow trees. The lake was originally dug for gravel around 50 years ago and is spring fed.
The lake bed is a mixture of bars and areas of sand, rocks, gravel, clay and silt. The far bank is more than 100 yards. It’s an interesting mix of features guaranteed to keep anglers happy whilst testing their skills.
All three swims we classify as doubles, although the Bay swim is two single platforms sitting back to back (approximately 10m from each other), which does offer single anglers somewhere to fish without sharing the same platform as someone else.
Willow swim and apple swim have a large area of water and features to fish to, so you shouldn't feel hemmed in here. Bay swim gives you the opportunity to fish two large bays.
Swims are not booked in advance so on arrival you'll need to draw to decide which swim you will fish during your stay. Please note however that single anglers will be limited to drawing between the two single platforms only.
Best tactics are to create a bed of bait in open water on the gravel bars or to fish to the margin over a small amount of bait. The key to continued success is to then regularly top up the swim with bait. Rigs don’t need to be complicated. Baitboats are allowed, however please stay within your fishing boundary.
The lake is snag free, the depths vary from 0.5 to 3 meters. There is no weed, no poisson chat and very few crayfish.
There is a small out of bounds area in the left hand corner of the lake. Please respect this area for privacy reasons.
Car access for unloading is available all around the lake, and there is a car park area close to where you will be fishing. Security is good here as the complex is well fenced. If you have a campervan, the owner will allow one to be parked behind a double swim, but only on a lake exclusive booking. Otherwise cars should be returned to car park after unloading.
