About the Lake
The 12-acre lake was created in 1965 to assist with irrigation on the farm and has been left completely natural ever since - spring-fed, clear and largely weed-free, with no snags to worry about. It's an uncomplicated water to fish, which is part of what makes it so well-suited to mixed-ability groups and families.
We suggest a maximum of 4 to 6 anglers. Worth noting that the shallowest end of the lake, around 20%, is inaccessible to walk around, having been left as a natural reserve - so it isn't possible to walk the full perimeter, but this has no impact on fishable swims and adds to the wild, undisturbed feel of the venue.
The lake responds well to a straightforward approach. A little work with a marker float will quickly locate the clay and gravel areas, feed them lightly and regularly and the carp will usually just keep coming. Every lake can have a quiet week of course, but Vincons is one of the most consistent waters in our portfolio.
There are no known issues with poisson chat at Vincons. Crayfish are present, as they are on many French lakes, and are more active during the hotter months - but with simple countermeasures they're easily managed. The carp usually spawn, over the period of a few days, at some time in April or May - where you may notice the fishing slow from its usual 'runs water' status.
