About the Lake
The 12 acre lake was created in 1965 to assist with irrigation on the farm and has been left completely natural. We suggest a maximum of 4 to 6 anglers. The lake itself is uncomplicated to fish – it isn't snaggy and there aren't any issues with weed.
Please note that it is not possible to walk all the way around the lake since around 20% is inaccessible, having been left as a kind of nature reserve.
A little work with a marker float will soon locate clay and gravel areas, feed them lightly and regularly and the carp will just keep coming.
Anglers will be pleased to know that there are no known issues with poisson chat. As with many French lakes, crayfish are present, more so in the hotter months. It’s best to be prepared just in case, we recommend you take tiger nuts or use plastic baits - you can find lots of information here for combatting crayfish in France. With these simple measures in place, they should cause you no problem.
The carp usually spawn, over the period of a few days, at some time in April or May - where you may notice the fishing slow from its usual 'runs water' status.
