Details of your catches:

We caught 16 mirrors up to 40 lb, 4 commons to 27 lb, 14 grass carp to 34 lb and 7 cats to 83 lb a new lake record for young Nick Adams. + 13 beam up to 10 lb.

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

small amounts of bait delivered by bait boat, again as previous years most of us used dynamite baits

General Comments:

Our catch rate was down on last year however this may have been due to the bitterly cold east wind with frosts most nights rather than the fish numbers down due to the virus the last year, only time will tell all the fish we caught all appeared healthy. Nick Adams caught the large catfish at 83 lb which Bernard verified as a new lake record and in true Beaurepaire tradition Nick ignored the bitterly cold wind took his kit off and streaked down the bank. Bernard asked us all back to his house and rewarded Nick with a bottle of champagne, what a nice guy Bernard is! But you do need his daughter Sophie as a translator.

Not for a runs water which this is advertised as being. In our opinion has lost too many fish.

General Comments:

Weather lovely and hot to mid 20's so expected fish to be feeding. However, fishing disappointing and very hard. Barely any fish showed until Wednesday onwards and then was very tough fishing. We covered the whole lake between us and the only place fish came from was fishing up against the spit island which was under water. Also 2 dead mirror carp surfaced while there which had been dead a long time!! Angling Lines Note: Whilst daytime temperatures have been good the night time temps have still been very cold, we genuinely believe this is a slow start due to water temperatures. Towards the end of last season and after the virus we had some big catches at the lake (as you can see on feedback) therefore we do not believe the slow fishing is down to stock levels. Regarding the fish found, as the water warms up around now you find any dead fish pop up from the bottom, so we nor the owners find this unusual for the time of year.

Details of your catches:

20 carp. 4 x 40's to 45lb, 12 x 30's and the rest 20's. Nearly all mirrors. 3 people had smashed their previous PB's. Water temperatures still low. Spit still covered by water but water levels have gone down by 7ft since winter.

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

Most carp initially out of the corner on facilities side but the end furthest away, as wind was strongly blowing into there for the first few days. After that they moved around and I caught well in the corner diagonal to the facilities in the last couple of days. We used mainline cell, urban baits nutcracker and sticky baits Krill boillies. All worked fine.

Were the facilities what you expected?

Yes

Were you happy with them?

Yes, lake owner Bernard and Sophie friendly and welcoming.

General Comments:

We saw 5 carp which have popped up dead after the winter. There were 2 the previous week. Not abnormal, but keep an eye on it. Otherwise considering the water temperature it fished well. Carp fought normally and otherwise looked healthy.

General Comments:

Bernard and his daughters are a really nice family nothing is a problem, leaves you to get on with it but there if you need him. Although i wish i could speak French as i think you could have a good chat with him. Before we left we visited his home to see his impressive koi carp collection. Would highly recommend this venue.
