Spawning, 19th May

The group fishing Blue lake this week have had 32 carp to 43lb, 7 grass carp and 5 sturgeon to 80lb+ as of Friday afternoon (19th May).

Following very hot weather, some of the carp have been spawning since Wednesday.

We have just stocked an 88lb sturgeon in to Blue Lake.

Questions and Answers, 30th Aug

A few questions answered recently that we thought were worth sharing...

1. What is classed as a bent hook rig (banned in rules)?

The Bent Hook rig was basically a Long Shank hook that had been bent approximately halfway down the shank to assist in the hook turning in quickly. It is banned on most fisheries as it causes damage to mouth.

2. What quantity would you recommend per angler for a week?

Difficult to say but 10kg of maize with pellet for one fish then top up. So maybe start with 20kg or so of each. You can certainly buy some pellet and maize later in the week if you need extra.

3. If I am to buy your carp pellets, what size are they?

10mm in 20kg bags

4. Could you recommend any certain type of boilies that have been doing well recently?

No particular boilie but snowman presented over maize and pellet always does well.

5. Is there currently much weed present in the lake?

No, not so far there is a bit but anglers are not saying it’s an issue.

'Hi there just going through some pictures from the trip. we had to blue lake in April I managed another 2 30+ carp after Sebastian came around for the pictures. The common was 30lb 4oz & mirror was 31lb, fishing over a bed of chopped 4G boilies and maize.'
