First time fishing the lake.
Landed 32 carp, from 22lb-36lb, majority between 28lb-32lb
3 grass carp, 25lb, 30lb, 35lb,
4 small Wels catfish
and we lost 8 carp all week ! ??

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

On the first day we noticed that we had a good amount of poisson chat (small catfish) so stopped using pellets and boilies completely and just used whole and crushed tigers, hemp and a bit of sweetcorn and baited little and often with bait boat!
Used simple blowback hair rigs with barbless hook size 4 with double tigers, on all rods!
Fishing open water and to snags!

Were the facilities what you expected?

Yes, as you would expect. Usual basic stuff - hot shower, clean toilets, power source, etc... all good for us, just what we needed!

Yes, lake is lovely looking natural as you would expect, good features to fish to as well. Fish average size not massive but if you get it right you get plenty of bites all week to keep you busy!

An outstanding week! We ran out of space on the catch report form.
43 fish landed, a mix of King carp and Grass Carp.
6 x 40lb+ biggest 47lb
15 x 30lb+ biggest 39lb
the rest were 20lb+

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

we used a LOT! of bait 65kg of particle with tigers on the hook, fished at long-range, this Lake would be hard to fish without a baitboat.
There are Poission Chat in the lake but they don't touch the tigers they do however seem to like maize.
We moved over to stiff booms with a combi.

Were the facilities what you expected?

Basic but ok, there is no freezer so gas fridge needed

General Comments:

Mark and Frank are great; Mark helps in every way he can.
A very enjoyable week my daughter only fished in the day is new to carp fishing and broke her Pb 4 times.
Chest waders are a must, we fished peg 2.

38 Fish, total 1,173 Lb.
14 Grass Carp.
11 Common.
12 Mirror.
1 Koi.
Heaviest Fish 45lb 13oz.

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

German Rig. Blow Back Rig, on helicopter rigs.
Mainly tiger nuts caught most of the fish, up against the far margin.
Silt not a problem.

Were the facilities what you expected?

Yes, but if Brocard Large is fully booked, then the facilities will be stretched.
2 lakes sharing 1 toilet and 1 shower.
Also the power sockets could be an issue.
No fridge or freezer.
We took a generator for extra power, cooler boxes etc.

The solar power is more then enough and the shower is hot

Were you happy with them?

Overall we where happy as Brocard Large was not being used at the time we were there.

Yes definitely recommend this venue. Mid to late June/July would be best.

Overall a very good and successful trip.

Details of your catches:

Fish were spawning before we arrived and the weather cooled down which I think made them stop. Still had some good fish. Fished here with my son before on swim 1, this time we fished on swim 4 on the Dam. It gets hot when the suns out which is fine with us

Small baits, fished over maize rather than boilies

Been before, all good, shower is nice and hot
