Around 30 fish from 8lb-44lb. Around 5 common, 1 grass and the rest were mirrors. Fished 6-10 feet from the far margin.

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

Simple bottom baits, 20mm boilies in a range of flavours. The most successful were manilla and krill.

General Comments:

Nearly all the fish were landed on swim 3 on the right hand side (along rope that separates you from the snags). The heat didn’t help, but the crayfish destroyed any bait you put out if it was in longer than 2 hours, even with korda shrink wrap. There seemed to be an endless amount of bream too, regularly getting hooked on 20mm boilies and a size 4 hook.

Bottom baits and wafters on far margin.
Swim 1 produced biggest fish as it’s deeper water
Swim 2 straight out in front and over to far corner of rope on swim 3 as we weren’t on it swim 3.

Were the facilities what you expected?

Facilities were brilliant. Great shower and toilet, 3 freezers, 2 fridges including big chest freezer. Tv , gas cooker. All English plugs!! Microwave.
Phillipe is the nicest owner of a lake we have ever known and speaks brilliant English!

General Comments:

This venue is truly outstanding and gutted to come home. The weather was very hot so affected the fishing slightly but still produced massive fish.
However the swims are to small for two good sized bivvies with swim 3 now a one man as half is roped off. We spoke to Phillipe about this as it’s easily rectified.

We didn’t have the food package and chose to cook our self. Supermarket just down the road.
We will be going back to get the ones that got away!

*Angling Lines note* Thank you for your feedback. We have now limited the number of anglers on the lake to a maximum of 5 for future bookings - it has proved very subjective as to how much room there is on swim 3, and we never want anyone to feel 'hemmed' in.

General Comments:

Only negative points for the trip , the rats where really bad at the venue
We booked a cabin for the outward journey and would expect the same for the return journey, but wasn’t booked any accommodation, bad service

As accommodation is not compulsory on the day crossings, many clients opt not to take it, and so we do not book it unless it is specifically requested. We are always happy to make changes to your booking and do ask anglers to check the details on their Info Pack, which in this case would have shown that there was no accommodation booked on the inbound day ferry crossing.

Even though the weather was very unsettled, we caught 70 fish in total, with the highlight a new lake record Common at 54lbs 4oz.
In addition we had 6 x 40lbs+, and 22 x 30lbs +

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

Most fish were caught from the far bank mainly from swims 1 & 2. These were caught on krill or manila 20mm boilies. In addition we caught a small number of fish on the surface.

Were the facilities what you expected?

This was our second year at La Fonte so we knew the facilities well.

Were you happy with them?

Yes we were very happy with the facilities, especially the service offered by Joanne and Jan who provided great food and company.

Would you recommend the venue to a friend?

Yes, this is a greats runs water where you can catch fish to over 50lbs. The only issue is the number of snags in the water and the newly roped off area which has limited swim 3 significantly. These impact on the fishing but we are aware the owner will be taking steps to improve matters.

Would you recommend the services to a friend?

Yes, this is our 6th trip with Angling Lines we have always found them exceptional in all of our dealings with them. We will be using them next year.

General Comments:

Great fishing, great food, what more do you want from a trip to France. It is highly recommended you use bait boats at this venue.
