Details of your catches:

Peg 1 31 fish to 32lb
Peg 2 54 fish to 38lb
Peg 3

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

Singles or double didn't need a lot of bait but we all fished different baits and all done well from fruity to sweet to fish all worked well

Were the facilities what you expected?

Facilities were great, a lot and couldn't fault a thing

Were you happy with them?

Yes the water was nice and cold to help us battle the 36c heat

Would you recommend the venue to a friend?

Have already passed the message around to fellow anglers and put great review on othe Anglian pages

Would you recommend the services to a friend?

There was a few errors with the crossing detail, which resulted in us having to leave at silly o'clock to then travel on ferry rather that train, so always double check the details before the day you leave. But Angling Lines did act fast and manage to sort it out last thing on Friday.

General Comments:

This was mine and a few others first trip to France and an amazing one at that!

From the minute we arrived and met Joanne she couldn't do enough to help us. We took the food package and I would never think twice about it again, even though Joanne has set very high standard for others in the future to match.

As for the fishing was extremely busy in the mornings and evening but very quiet at the peak of the heat and at night But we had some great fish out from low doubles to 39.5.

So overall give this venue my thumbs up 👍 And Would definitely like to go back in the future

Details of your catches:

Had both mirrors and commons to about 36lbs and 25 fish in total.

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

BBR Gravity gave the best catch results with 7 in 4 hours fishing tight to the 2 trees on Peg 3. Its a little snaggy at that end of the lake and you need to be quick to your rods, with tight clutches. They fight hard and my snag ears stopped me losing my rod on more than 1 occasion.

Were the facilities what you expected?

Facilities were great, lake was great, other anglers were great, Joannes food was great, Gabbie was great and Philippe was great too. My son and I had a great time and we would come back for another go.

Were you happy with them?

Very happy over all.

Would you recommend the venue to a friend?

Yes, I would. Good sized fish and plenty of them

Would you recommend the services to a friend?

Yes.

General Comments:

Its a great lake. It was my son and I's first trip to France and it was just the right lake and a good mixture of size and "action". The swims were a little tight for 2 bivvy's but we managed. There are shops & petrol within 10 mins for provisions and my son was kept happy with a McDonalds about 20 mins away.

Details of your catches:

Mostly Mirrors caught but a few Common including 30, 34lb Bronze plus a 33 Silver. Aprox 1200lb in total weight between us with 3 fish in high 30's

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

Used a selection of boillies 18 & 20mm on the bottom or popped up. Didn't make a lot of difference. The fish will quite happily take 2 x 18mm on a hair or I preferred to change colours around with a snowman set up.

Unfortunately The weather was so hot (upper 30's) that we had very slow unproductive periods as I guess even the fish were feeling it. Main bait used was Urban Nutcracker. I always find that when you have to live with a bait for a week it is always a good idea to have something that smells OK.

Were the facilities what you expected?

Yes. We were returning to the lake on a drive and survive package this year but I would highly recommend the food package as Joanne is an excellent cook and an all round really lovely person to meet. The bivvy area is gravel but soft earth under that so very easy to set up on

Were you happy with them?

Yes The kitchen is equipped with everything should you need it and is very well maintained. The shower and toilet room were clean and spacious

Would you recommend the venue to a friend?

Most definitely. If size is all that matters then this lake is probably not for you but if you want to catch fighting carp with a chance of some real crackers then you would not be disappointed.

Would you recommend the services to a friend?

Yes. I think the service from beginning to end has been excellent. Very quick responses to our questions and requests which ultimately led us to have the holiday we wanted. Thank you! Credit should also go to the website which was very easy to use and above all very informative

General Comments:

Firstly The lake is set in such pretty and peacefully quiet surroundings and we experienced many of natures sights and sounds including all sorts of bird wildlife. Very little issues with mosquitos or ants but there were one or 2 horsefly around during the daytime who left their calling cards! In regards to the fishing well these fish are not the overfed swollen belly variety hence you will hear others comment on the fish being quite powerful when being played. I think it is important it stays this way.

As with any lake there are one or two snags around the lake so, as previously mentioned by the Anglinglines field testers, don't fish to close to them for the sake of the fish. There is a rowing boat available should the unexpected happen which I had to use on one occasion to release a fish which transpired to be a very large common which despite all that effort slipped the hook as it approached the net. I was gutted as I just spent half an hour carefully releasing it from some marginal tree snags near the swim. Could it have been the legendary "Napoleon" (very large common) I ask myself? I'll be back!

Details of your catches:

89 carp in total to 38lb 8oz, mainly mirrors but a few commons to 30lb. We didn't fish at night and had the food package which meant long leisurely breaks at breakfast and dinner. The carp in La Fonte fight really hard, we resorted to fishing with one rod each in the end.

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

Simple hair rigs using single 18mm boilies caught most of our fish.

Were the facilities what you expected?

Yes

Were you happy with them?

Yes

Would you recommend the venue to a friend?

If it's action they wanted then yes I would definitely recommend La Fonte. Although we both prefer fishing bigger waters La Fonte made a pleasant change, the dawn chorus was fantastic.

Would you recommend the services to a friend?

Certainly would, Bridget was really helpful in helping us choose an alternative venue when our original booking was suddenly unavailable due to no fault of Angling Lines.

General Comments:

Now that Phillipe the owner is implementing the recommendations made by Angling Lines I'm sure the Carp in La Fonte will improve and pack on the weight. Johanne who greeted us and prepared our meals all week is a real treasure, she couldn't have been more helpful.
