How much bait will I need?
It varies depending on the time of year. The fish are usually fed high protein carp pellet, several kg a day so as a minimum we’d recommend a sack of this or the mixed pellet we offer.
What bait do you recommend?
High protein pellet, some form of particle or seed mix as a base works well, boilies (fish/meat seem to work better than fruity - but don’t rule anything out). Tiger nuts for the grass carp, on a ground down bed of tigers too.
If you supply bait on site, will I be able to get more bait during my stay if I need it?
Yes.
Is my UK carp set-up suitable for use at your lake?
Yes, typical carp set-up is adequate.
What hook size do you recommend?
4, 6, 8.
What breaking strain of main line do you recommend?
15lb+.
What is the surface of the swims - can I use bank sticks?
Grass. You can use bank sticks but the ground can bake hard in the summer months so a hammer/mallet is advisable.
Are any special tactics required?
No. Catching on the surface can be difficult.
Do you recommend use of a bait boat?
The lake is circular and you can cast from the island in the middle so it’s not a necessity but it can be handy to get underneath tree cover and into the margins on the sides.
Can I drive all the way around the lake in order to unload?
Not all around the lake, but you are welcome to drive down the grass track to the island where the main swim is located.
Is the lake secure?
We feel the venue is secure and there is a coded lockable gate. We would be comfortable leaving our own tackle by the bank, however it is at your own risk.
Can we drink the tap water?
Yes.
Can you usually get mobile phone / 3g or 4g coverage at the lake?
Yes in our experience no issues at all, although it may depend on your individual provider.
Do you have UK plug points?
Yes.
Can I sleep in the accommodation whilst my rods are out
No. Rods must not be left unattended, you are welcome to fish at night but would need to do so in a bivvy by the lake.
Does anyone else live on site?
No, you have the venue to yourselves for the week. However the owner is available via phone for any queries you may have during your week.
