Winter Carp , 28th Feb

Fishing just a couple of days and braving the wet weather has produced some good winter carp this month. Some nice mirrors of 39lb4oz, 38lb, 34lb and a couple of lovely common came out up to 40lb 2oz.

Well done to the brave anglers!

Winter work, 27th Feb

As with every winter, we try our best to make the lake more comfortable for every angler. Despite the extremly wet winter, we managed to complete our plans.

The whole perimeter has been trimmed, all branches annoying the anglers above their heads and on each side of each peg have been cut, and both sides of the track too.

400 yards of edge, from the gate to the point has been trimmed too, that is 1500 yards in total, and it is not finished, because now, picking up all these branches is another job.

The next plan is to mulch all to get as much woodchip as possible, to cover the pegs.

Next week, a special tractor will come and mulch all the brambles and the little bushes around the lake.

We discovered a snag along the bank opposite to L'Anse peg and pulled it out. That is a very old and massive roller full of concrete abandoned, probably over 50 years ago.

As promised, our next job (as soon as the sun will be back, which is hard because it’s raining every day !!!) is to remove the underwater snags and overhanging branches opposite peg 1, near the dead boat. That will spread a lot of carp holding in that part of the lake.

Two fifties in a couple of hours, 28th Nov

Great news on Laroussi this morning!

Craig Brown just smashed the lake record common with this superb 58lb2oz! In just a few hours, off the same rod, he caught a 51lb mirror and this 58lb2oz common.

This common was last out in March this year at 53lb, meaning it has gained 5lb over the season.
