News from Laroussi lake

May 2015

Craig Lancashire's Session, 14th May

Craig and his friends had an awesome week at Laroussi, Craig finished the week with 21 fish !

About 20s after placing his rig with his first rod, he hooked a big fish : 54lb 9oz ! New PB !

Monday afternoon, he landed the superb Linear at a new maximum weight of 55lb 8oz. (Was 44lb last year).

On Wednesday, he caught his third fifty at 52lb 12oz but it wasn't the end the adventure...

On Thursday afternoon, we were watching some big fish swimming around and suddenly we saw a huge mirror.. . We agreed to estimate that fish at 60lb. On friday afternoon, he had a bite on that spot and guess what? Yes he landed the big mirror we saw at 67lb 1oz ! (same fish was 61lb last year).

His friends, John managed 5 fish up to 49lb mirror and Keith had 3 mirror : 28lb, 46lb, 55lb 13oz!

So in total Craig has 1x Sixty at 67lb 1oz, 3x fifties at 54lb 9oz, 55lb 8oz and 52lb 12oz, 5 x Forties at 45lb 12oz, 41lb, 48lb 12oz, 42lb 6oz, 46lb 10oz and 12 others fish from 37lb 15oz to 15lb.

Jason Williams caught a lovely 12lb8oz tench along with some good grass carp and a sturgeon.

So in the last 5 weeks, the biggest carp caught each week has been : 64lb, 64lb, 69lb 6oz, 70lb 8oz, 67lb 1oz !

Work and fishing!, 20th Apr

Spring is here.

As Old Oaks, a lot of work has been done around Laroussi this winter:

A few snags removed
300m Conifer edge cropped
Several swims cover of wood chips
Size of the a few pegs increase by cutting bushes and removing stumps
Gravel track refilled
La plage track resurfaced with over 40 tons of gravel/sand/soil
Wooden fence rebuilt on L'Anse
As you know, 38 new fish stocked in December

Fishing has been good so far despite the tough conditions - forties, fifites and a sixty out last week at 64lb, well done Neil Jones from the Measor party.

Biggest of 2014, 20th Jan

Here's a list of the biggest fish we've seen in 2014 at Laroussi.

Despite really up and down weather last year that left a lot of lakes all over France fishing poorly, Laroussi's tally of big carp is impressive. The weights of all species show that Mehdi is continuing to do a fantastic job keeping the lake healthy and that there really must be something special in the water!

Steve Knight Back For Another Winter Session, 19th Jan

Laroussi regular Steve has spent the last two weeks braving the conditions at Laroussi and it's paying off!

In the last 9 days Steve has had 10 carp to 53lb 8oz, including a couple of the newly stocked youngsters. He also lost a carp that he suspects was easily one of the bigger residents.

Temperatures have been around 4/5 degrees in the daytime and dropping to -1/2 at night. With another 5 days to go we can't wait to see what else shows up on the bank.
