Details of your catches:
As a group we struggled to catch in open water from swim 10 - just two grass carp 42lb & 33lb each with a scattering of bream all around the 8lb mark. Swim 11 was more productive with 5 carp - mirrors and commons to 41.8. Difficult to identify why we didn't do better as we had all the tech (RT7 bait boat) and had fished swim 10 previously. David also visited and gave us some hints - which included fishing near-side margins overnight. Our trip started with horrendous storms and that may have impacted on patrol routes and feeding?
Your best tactics/bait/rigs:
Standard carp methods (all using the recommended rigs stated on the rules!) with boilies. We used fishmeal based 20 & 25mm (and still caught bream on the 25mm!) Slip D, German, and combi rigs all caught.

The second WC is a good improvement. Facilities were kept clean by those of us at the lake so were pleasant to use. I also think there were more rubbish bins than there have been on previous trips, which was convenient.

Despite the fact that this is a challenging venue it is natural, safe and secluded. Personally I would only really want one of four pegs on the whole lake (north and south) 1, 5, 6 & 11 as these allow you to fish to the margins and the overhanging trees. However, this requires you to be on your rod and ready as the fish can still kite into the snags easily. It’s hook and hold tactics. A boat ideally with an outboard is essential, the small rowing boats provided are just about adequate but aren’t really ideal. Only go to this lake if you are comfortable and able to fish at distances of up to 200yds, or if in one of the end swims are happy to be close to your rods and tighten the drag down, a leisurely wander to a screaming run won’t work - the fish will be in the snags and gone!

We will be booking through Angling Lines next year. Charlotte was very helpful and made everything easy.
General Comments:
2 of us were on Peg 6 & 11 fishing hard up against snags, which is where the majority of the fish were. We swapped pegs halfway through because 6 was hard to keep the fish out of the margin once hooked. Peg 11 is a great peg with more of an opportunity to turn the fish as soon as they were hooked, so more landed from this peg. Try play them into open water if you can ovoid getting in the boat. Playing fish and using a boat can be tricky. Great week, excellent venue.
