After slow start due to spawning we ended up with 21 carp up to 40lbs and lost 3 of the big cats.

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

All fish caught on wafters don't stick to the same spots try moving around on small spots of bait.

Were the facilities what you expected?

The cabin was a lot better than we expected the beds comy and all the cooking equipment you need.The shower is hot and plenty of water.

Were you happy with them?

Yes as all you need for a trip did not fish nights but slept so well,we didn't cook much as went out but everything you need to cook meal.

General Comments:

A lovely lake and so peaceful and Richard knows his lake so listen to him,we had spawning for 3 days so kept catching down.We will go back as a great lake and special thanks to Bob the four legged baliffe for keeping us entertained a lovely dog.

We had a really productive week with 30 fish in total: Carp up to 50lb as well as cats of 40lb and 50lb

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

For us both, bottom baits and wafters worked over small amounts of crushed/chopped boilies and particle loose feed. Watch the water, listen carefully to Richard’s advice and you won’t go far wrong.

Were the facilities what you expected?

Overall the facilities were better than expected. The location of the cabin so close to our swims which was really great.

General Comments:

Richard wants you to catch his fish and is super helpful. Make the most of his advice as well as applying your own angling experience and you’ll have a great week. We can’t thank Richard enough for arranging a jump start for us on Saturday morning when our car battery was flat as we were about to set off home!

A wide range of fish, carp, bream and catfish. Carp ranging from 20-47lb, both of us achieved a new pb.

Move to where you see fish. Don’t feel like you have to stay in the same spot.

The facilities were excellent, the beds are comfy, the bathroom was very clean with a nice shower. Great idea to have English sockets as well.

General Comments:

Richard was a great host, the facilities, the lake, and the location were all great. An amazing trip all round.

Details of your catches:

A superb week for a holiday in the sun, but not ideal for the fishing! High pressure all week, but we managed 26 carp to 46lb, another 12x 30lb+ with the rest 20lb+. Also had 6x cats including 2x 30lb+ and 3 over 40lb.

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

Mixture of maize/10mm wafters and 8mm popups using bright colours with small loads of freebies in the margins and 2/3rd's across the lake. Few fish also taken from the back of the island and the gravel bars on the shallows.

Were the facilities what you expected?

Lodge is perfect for us to store our clothes, cook and have a hot shower - all clean, well equipped and plenty of room.

Were you happy with them?

Rick and Sue we brilliant, we had a nightmare getting there due to the motorhome breaking down in Caen (only 7,000 miles on the clock...). Rick took us to the supermarket and looked after us, knowing we had no transport until finally the AA managed to get us a hire van - Rick also took me to Europcar to pick up the van - you can't ask for a more caring and genuine host. As we were delayed another week - Rick got us onto another local lake which was also excellent, until we were able to get back to the UK. Motorhome is still in France - never ever breakdown in France, it's a total nightmare even with the max insurance cover money can buy!
