About the Lake

Triangular in shape, the lake offers wide grassy banks and therefore lots of options on where to fish.

The lakeside cabin sits halfway down one bank, inbetween the two main swims.

The swim immediately to the left of the cabin sits on a spit built out 20m into the water, giving great access to fish in all directions. It's a decent width too, with more than enough room for a couple of anglers (we've even known four anglers to fish from here at one time!).

To the right of the cabin sits another large swim giving easy access to the right hand side of the lake including the dam wall and the deepest areas.

Both of these swims have easy access via steps from the cabin's veranda.

On the centre of the dam wall next to the monk/outlet is another swim, complete with a concrete stairway down into the lake to easily facilitate the landing of carp.

The cabin side and dam wall side of the lake is accessible by car (in relatively dry weather), for easy loading and unloading. Access is also good for larger vehicles such as campervans on the cabin bank.

The lake has good water depth with the dam wall end reaching 3 metres or more. Much of the lake averages 1.5 to 2.5 metres. The base of the lake is mainly silt with some gravel patches and the old stream bed runs through the middle.

There are no issues with poisson chat. There is some weed formation in the lake in the summer months.

Some anglers have reported crayfish - this is often in the summer months when they become more active. It is best to go prepared - you can find lots of information here for combatting crayfish in France. Wrapping your baits or using tiger nuts (this lake allows commercially prepared tiger nuts only) is a tried and tested method to use when crays are active.
