Details of your catches:

25 carp, mainly 30’s and 40’s and they were all immaculate, plus some tench.

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

We didn't need a lot of bait. We caught on boilies and tiger nuts with a small handful of chops around them. It seemed if you put any quantity of bait out the crays found it and then the spots were blown as they stayed put. Moving slightly off your spot seemed to work. We also picked lots of crays up on the lines when you reeled in, almost as if they were following them out! The swans and coots like a free meal (and a cray) so just be aware when baiting up if they are near by as they will clear you out. You might want to distract the swans off the veranda, it makes it harder for them to find your spots. And don’t be put off by the shallow water, we had some really cold nights and high pressure but the fish still ventured up to the far end, the fish hardly showed but that might have been down to the weather.

Were the facilities what you expected?

Facilities were perfect, really clean and well stocked with everything you needed in case you forgot anything. We’ve seen a few comments the shower was too small, have to say we didn’t have any problems and the water was always lovely and warm.

Were you happy with them?

Yes, one of the best venues we’ve been to over the last 35 years.

Would you recommend the venue to a friend?

100%, we will definitely go back and hopefully catch a better spell of weather. The fish are there to be caught.

Would you recommend the services to a friend?

Yes, we’ve used Angling Lines for a very long time. No one else comes close.

General Comments:

Mathieu was a perfect host and available if needed otherwise he let you get on with the fishing. Weather wasn’t in our favour - really high pressure, flat calm lake and clear skys saw the temperature drop at night. That said, we still caught and on the last night it broke, decent storm, pressure fell and the fish turned on.

Details of your catches:

28 fish mainly 30's and 40's and one of 59lb 4oz

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

Tiger nuts and minimal ground bait.

Were the facilities what you expected?

No, but adequate.

Were you happy with them?

The shower was far to small and cramped even for the smallest of people but that was the only complaint from our team.

Would you recommend the venue to a friend?

Yes I would but would have to warn them about the shower facilities.

Would you recommend the services to a friend?

Definitely, first class service with great customer support.

General Comments:

Overall the trip was well organised with minimal disruption, the lake and facilities (apart from the shower) were as described and more than satisfied our needs, we will definitely be booking again next year.

Details of your catches:

16 fish bewteen 3 of us, 3 over 40lb the rest ranging from low 20's to high 30's, mixture of Commons, Mirrors, Grass Carp, Ghost Carp and an immaculate Koi

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

Fish to the edge of the weed, mainly along the far back margins from the spit. This is roughly 28 wraps out so to be accurate a bait boat would be useful. Follow the reed line to the left all the way down to the shallow end of the lake is where the biggest fish came from in no more than about 2 feet of water. Go out in the row boat and take a good look around. DO NOT put too much bait in, stick with tiny handfuls. Overbaiting will lead to no bites for roughly 48 hours, keep it small The crayfish here are a HUGE problem, boilies cant be left out for more than a couple of hours without being decimated by them. We did wrap baits but this didnt really solve the issue. We ordered Tiger nuts from the owner before we arrived, however they were not delivered until the tuesday...at this point we hadnt caught a single thing. Once we had tigers in the water, they could stay out long enough to be found and we caught within a few hours. This was the only method that worked. All fish came on a double tiger nut fished on the bottom. * Angling Lines note* Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry the crayfish were so active on your week, this has not been a reported as an issue previously and we acknowledge that with the hot weather this year they may have been more prevalent – we’ve updated the venue information to reflect this. We’ve spoken to the owner, Chris, who apologises for the delay with your bait order. There was a mix-up with stock and he is really sorry for the inconvenience caused.

Were the facilities what you expected?

The cabin was a lovley touch, really made a difference being able to sit out of the sun and rain, being able to cook but still within distance of your rods so they could be left out. Facilities inside included a hob and gas fridge, which wasnt huge but big enough to hold food for a couple of days. Everything else can be stored in the farmhouse fridge and freezer which is about a 3 min drive away. We took a powered cool box with us and a 12v adapter and just plugged it in, basically a make shift fridge. The toilet was a dry toilet, do your business then sprinkle the saw dust...this was fine for the first few days but getting towards the end of the week was, shall we say.....interesting. Thankfully we didnt have to empty that ourselves, not sure i could have lifted it shower was fine, hot water/cold water, sink.....does the job and certainly not the worst shower i have used in france....

Were you happy with them?

yes, not sure the wife would have been happy with the toilet situation but for us it was fine

Yes angling lines cant be faulted at all, fantastic service as always.

General Comments:

the venue was clean, serene, picturesque and a great socialble layout. My only fault was the bait we oreder months before wasnt all avaiable upon arrival. We were greeted by a lovley french couple but they admittedly didnt fish and spoke no english. It would have been nice to have some advice from the bailiff/owner on arrival and the tiger nuts waiting for us, other than that this venue was great. I would definitly return a little wiser...felt like we could have bagged up if we had those tigers right from the start.

Details of your catches:

50lb grass carp and 39lb mirror the biggest Lots of mirror and common between 20-30lb and another grassy at 32lb 22 fish in total, very difficult conditions due to 38-40 degrees heat in the day so only catching at night

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

Far margins, used the boat to get the bait and rigs out, from the dam wall to the right was the big grassy, under the willow from the jetty at the cabin was the big mirror

Were the facilities what you expected?

Yes, clean tidy, Mathieu was always available if needed, take advantage of his fridge and freezer at the farm 2 mins up the road
