Ragon - Bumper week, 14th Apr

So, a small round of my visits to some of our brilliant lakes this week, began on Monday morning with Ragon. I arrive at 08.30 the sun shining and the lake looking its very best. A tour and chat with owner Mattieu and Chris, we were updated on the plans for a new fridge (fridge space is very limited here, the site is not on mains electric) but further facilities and freezers are just down the road if needed. A new couch is also due soon in the facilities.

Turning my attention to the group of smiley anglers fishing at the time, I realised they were smiling because they knew the venue having visited before and despite having the rods in for only 36 hours, they had already caught some real beauties. They were brimming with confidence. Talking about their tactics openly and happy to show me the pellet mix they were using (see photo) I asked about boilies and they said a few rods also had scopex boilie but the pellet was the main thing.

I had expected them to be fishing mainly in the margins but they were in fact all fishing to the central backbone of the lake. They love this lake especially because its a really social venue with the big terrace sitting in between. They were really sounding confident as conditions were perfect and the week had got off to a great start.

I asked if they would send us the photo's and update us as their week progressed. Well the update at the end was 1333lb of carp including 5 carp over 44lb the biggest being 54.4lb and already you can see from the pictures you might class this as a bumper week.
