Rain or Shine the Fish Keep Feeding, 29th Nov
Rain doesn’t halt the feeding at all. While I hide in the cabin and stay dry, the bait boat does the work.

Lake Improvements Underway, 1st May
We have been busy with work, not only the netting, the removal of all the margin snags, but we have also, limed the lake to improve the water quality. We have also removed the mobile home and replaced it with a big fishing lodge. Pictures of it completed will follow but here is one of the work being done.

Netting & stock check, 15th Jan
Some big news!
We have acted on angler's feedback last year, with big projects started this winter including a drain down and netting of the lake. The main aim of the netting was to remove the smaller carp, restoring the bigger average weight of carp in the lake, and it was great to finally do a stock check.
So onto the netting! With the water level not as low as we would like and with such differences in the lake bottom it makes Villefond a hard lake to net - our fish farmer leading the netting estimated that around 30% of the fish in the lake would not have been netted. However the fish we did get to see were plentiful and impressive.
We saw some really big carp, including 'Son of Max' weighing nearly 60lb and our biggest resident the ‘Scarred Common' (last caught at 65lb) looking very healthy. Other big commons way over 50lb, some beautiful linears and a few grass carp of over 40lb. Also some stunning big ghost carp we didn’t know we had.
Overall we removed 127 carp under 18lb - this is a great success in restoring the balance of the lake.
We have also, whilst the water level was low, worked on overhanging trees and snags that should make fishing simpler for anglers.

56lber on the bank, 5th Oct
Another 50lber out this week, with this stunning 56lb lump called Gaffer making a new PB for a regular and a top weight for this fish. Great angling and it was the biggest of 51 fish caught that week between 2.
