Details of your catches:

2 x 43Lbs, 3 x mid 30's, 5 x 20's and a mid-doubles.

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

The team's advice on tactics, bait, and rigs was invaluable. Mark kindly spent a couple of hours on the first day explaining how to catch the bigger fish, showing me which rigs to use, and detailing a special presentation for his recommended rig to maximize bites. Most of my fish were caught on sweetcorn hair rigs or lake-supplied boilies and maize. John would also visit a couple of times a day to point out where the fish would likely be given the weather conditions.

Were the facilities what you expected?

The management team was fantastic, taking care of my every need. There was no power lakeside, but I could charge my power banks and bait boat easily using the charging facilities in the hut. The toilet and shower were cleaned regularly as was the kitchen, and the shower was actually better than mine at home! The cooker and fridge freezer were a real bonus as there was an open fire ban in place due to the forest fires.

Were you happy with them?

Very happy with everything you need including site provided cool box and freezer blocks changed out daily.

Would you recommend the venue to a friend?

Yes and especially Debbie's home cooked food package that was always hot and large in size with lots of choices. The evening pizza was even delivered by 'Papa John'.

General Comments:

Even in 38°C August heat which was always going to be challenging to catch, the invaluable advice from Mark and John helped me land two 43lb carp alongside multiple 30s and 20s. With a fantastic management team, great facilities, and a beautiful lake packed with big fish, Villefond exceeded all expectations. I’ve already recommended it to friends and booked for another trip!

Details of your catches:

Great week at Villefond, 24 fish in total for the group.
2 x 40lb+, 7 x 30lb+ and the rest 20lb+, typically in the high 20s.
Lots of nice commons and a few very nice looking linear

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

Watch the lake and feed to showing fish. Maize was the winner both fake and natural. Great advice from Mark on rigs, which really helped hook those cautious fish. Weather was hot which looked against us, but the catch report shows otherwise.

Were the facilities what you expected?

Yes, this is advertised as a bivvy lake with no power, which is what it is. The hosts however go out of their way to ensure you have everything charged and the shower and toilet facilities were clean and more than acceptable.

Were you happy with them?

Totally happy, the only feedback would be to the peg with the cabin on it, and that is, it gets in the way. Would be an easier swim with either longer pontoon or cabin moved back.

Would you recommend the venue to a friend?

Yes, the lake is beautiful and peaceful. The fish are gorgeous and the hosts are very accommodating!

Would you recommend the services to a friend?

Yes, hosts could not do enough to help! The food package is well worth the money and very tasty and I cannot state enough how helpful and accommodating the hosts are!

General Comments:

Great carp water, you catch but it’s not a runs water, you have to work to catch the fish. Once they’re feeding just small adjustments to the rigs. Will land you fish!
