hemp and maize with boilies

yes

General Comments:
does really need a chest frezer for your bait and also a fridge for your fresh food as it does not keep in the hot weather
Brian Gillman
19th May to 26th May 2012
8 anglers
Details of your catches:
The group of 10 had over 80 fish, at least 20 of them were mirrors, size range from 15lb to 43lb, grass carp,a few bream and few sturgeons. Fish were of good quality.
Your best tactics/bait/rigs:
Little and often, liked the maize and boilies, did not appear to have much success with the pellet. Bevo Baits Ninza black were to their liking.
Were the facilities what you expected?
Yes for drive and survive however the cabin would benefit from a bench to sit on when out of the shower. The loo compartment was too small, one chap had his legs out of the door, the shower too was a bit close for comfort but welcome. A floor mop would be good for muddy days. The power for charging was next to the loo, too dangerous to charge in the cabin, next to water!
Were you happy with them?
Yes they provided necessary basics, hot water, sinks, shower. Could do with some improvement to size of loo area. The facilities were kept clean each day.

Would you recommend the services to a friend?
Yes but it would have been nice to have an emergency contact for Angling Lines because when we arrived the combination lock number had been changed by other anglers (not sure who), the owner was not contactable and our party spent a wasted hour trying different combinations before we got in. We had advised we would be there at 2 pm, no one visited us until 5 pm. Had the combination not been found, we would have been waiting all that time. The lock had to be changed. *** Note from ALines - really sorry to hear this. We'll speak to the owner re the time he arrived. Re Emergency Contact number - there is one in the information you download prior to your holiday (rules, directions, ferry details etc) ****
General Comments:
Weather not as expected on arrival but then that's beyond control. Would recommend Mosquito spray as Mr Gillman ended up when back in the UK with problems caused by a bite and spent 2 days in hospital. The fishing was good, would suit 10 anglers if two fish together and space themselves out. Depths differ quite a lot from map.
Malc Allcott
19th May to 26th May 2012
8 anglers
Details of your catches:
10 anglers fished the lake - Mr. Malc Allcott's catch. Had 27 fish, 8 x 30's best being 43lb 12oz, 39lb 15oz, 39lb 6oz, 39lb 2oz, 36lb 12oz, 15 x 20lb+ and 2 under 20lb. Also 1 sturgeon.
Your best tactics/bait/rigs:
Fished swim 3 with mate Phil Harris who had 14 fish. Used only boilies and topped up every few hours with throwing stick spaced out to make the carp work for bait. Worked well for us.
Were the facilities what you expected?
Yes- fine, could do with a freezer for anglers food and bait.
Were you happy with them?
Yes - brilliant lake, good size, deep in places keep fishing simple and you will get results.
Would you recommend the venue to a friend?
Yes - Owner very friendly and can't do enough for you.
Would you recommend the services to a friend?
Yes
General Comments:
I will be going back :-)
Neil Denton
12th May to 19th May 2012
5 anglers
Details of your catches:
We had 58 carp to finish with up to 41lb - 2 x 40+, 30 x 30+, 24 x 20+ also 8 Sturgeon, 1 pike and 4 bream :-)
Your best tactics/bait/rigs:
For Neil the first three days fished deep water from swim 8 found out that large amounts of bait attract the sturgeon and they chase off the carp. Best tactics are small pva bags and scattering of boilies about 70 yards. snowman rigs topped with corn real or fake did not matter. All the swims fished well but look out for the large rocks off 9/10/11 swims this snags leads.
Were the facilities what you expected?
Yes - very good clean and tidy.
Were you happy with them?
Yes - Lake really beautiful and natural with great facilities.
Would you recommend the venue to a friend?
Yes - owners very helpful, lovely venue, would like to go back again :-)
Would you recommend the services to a friend?
Yes- Found info on lake really valuable and informative, great service.
General Comments:
We all had a great week just remember too much bait attracts the sturgeon. Fish the plateau's 7 to 8 ft for the carp, lots of features to fish to. Photo's to follow.
