Netting & Additional Stocking, 2nd Dec

At the end of October the lake was drained and netted to remove excess pike and smaller fish, restoring the balance in the lake.

In the process owner Chris was able to assess the majority of the current carp (although some inevitably managed to avoid the net) and get a tally of sizes. He also stocked an additional 14 carp, with another 16 additional carp left to go in at a later date this winter.

So, the initial netting & additional stockings give us a total of:
103 carp
6 grass carp
2 koi

Of this, we counted 11 different carp over 50lb, a further 20 different carp between 40-49lb and another 30 carp between 30-39lb.

We expect there to be a few more 40lb+ carp in the final 16 carp to arrive this winter.

Draining and Netting Done!, 14th Nov

The drain down and netting of the lake has now taken place, nice and early in the season so the lake has plenty of time to refill. We've completely removed the pike, some will go back in in early spring but nowhere near the volumes that became an issue over the last season or so.

An update from the lake, 12th Sep

The Boux anglers who left this morning finished with 20 fish caught up to 52lb. Weed, whilst present, is not disturbing the fishing, but the crayfish are a bit more. The anglers caught with tigers nuts and wafters.

The water level is down by 30 cm so still fishable and with access from the swims by some steps.
