News from Boux lake

Oct 2021

Future Plans, 28th Oct

We have actioned some improvements for Boux within the coming seasons:

We will be stocking some roach for the pike so they are less likely to bother with anglers reeling baits in etc. Also we intend to drain Boux in the autumn of 2022, so we will remove some pike then too.

Another thing to note if you are coming out to the lake, is to come with suitable line, for the size of fish and also knowing there is some weed in the summer months. When I was mowing I got some rigs and lines which were much too fine for fishing Boux.

For improving the bathroom facilities, I have spoken with the farm owners and we will redo it for next season.

Path to Wooded Bank, 28th Apr

The new path to the wooded bank swims was completed last winter. It is now wider, flatter and gravelled.

Boux over the years, 17th Apr

Boux has been a destination for adverturous carp anglers since the 1990's. Tucked away in the Morvan Park, this is a very natural lake that has continuously produced big carp for decades now.

Chris Lafaille took the lake over in 2011, having known it for many years prior, we asked him how it has changed over time...

"We have over the years introduced some beautiful carp and removed some small fish to allow the magnification of others. The carp are still as combative, if not more.

There were some changes with the establishment of on-site bait, the addition of dry toilets closer to the lake, swims levelled off and a gravel path to reach the swims on the forest bank (anyone who has fished Boux previously in the wetter months knows this was a fairly treacherous experience at times!)

For purist carp fishermen it is an unmissable destination."

Lake Update, 28th Feb

A quick update from Boux. We have rebuilt the bank on the forest side (upgrading of the swims and reinforcement of the banks, steps to go down in the boat), see photos below.

Unfortunately after the rains of the last few weeks we have not yet been able to put the gravel on the swims. For the access track on the forest side we have removed the stumps and we are redoing the track so it is flatter and straighter with a gravel finish as well.

Best wishes to all, Chris Lafaille
