Details of your catches:

Overall was slow, this was mainly due to the heat. Evening and through the night, where most of the fish were caught. About 10 fish in total, mirrors, commons and 1 tench.

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

Tried most tactics. But overall plastic baits or tigers worked. Also loads of crayfish.
I caught 4 carp and 1 Tench all on Ronnie Rig, plastic corn and tigers. Tried Zigs through the day, due to the heat, nothing. Not as much weed as normal apparently. So lake a bit murky not gin clear as on the pictures.

Were the facilities what you expected?

Yes, as per the website.

Were you happy with them?

Water ran out, but Constant came straight out to fill it up. Does have a freezer, but could do with a fridge. Also could do with a sink, maybe outside, to clean dishes etc.

Would you recommend the venue to a friend?

Yes

Would you recommend the services to a friend?

Yes

General Comments:

Overall its a good venue, but we had very hot weather. So through the day its suntan weather. I think September would be a good month.

Details of your catches:

8 fish landed for the week. 8 doubles, 3 twenties, 4 thirties and 3 forties of 45, 46 and 49lb plus a couple of losses. Beautiful hard fighting fish in great condition. Fishing was definitely not easy and probably not suited to those without boat or weed fishing experience, but great fun. Catching revolved around finding small clear spots in heavy weed with an echo sounder from the boat, heavy accurate baiting and leaving baits in position for 18-24hrs. Heavy weed and crayfish were problematic at times.

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

Heavy baiting (5-10kg per rod per day), on small clear hard spots in heavy weed. All fish were caught on 15mm wafters on standard lead clip set ups but with heavy leaders and 6 ounce leads dropped from a boat.
Baits needed to be wrapped due to crayfish.

Were the facilities what you expected?

Facilities were basic but clean and functional. Definitely not a luxury venue, but as expected and helped maintain a natural feel to the venue.

Were you happy with them?

Yes as expected.

General Comments:

Great venue, great host, challenging but rewarding fishing, will be back.

Details of your catches:

6 carp to 38lb

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

small beds of bait fished on clear spots between weed beds

Were the facilities what you expected?

yes

Were you happy with them?

basic but did the job. Boats and motor supplied were of a high standard

Would you recommend the venue to a friend?

yes

Would you recommend the services to a friend?

yes

General Comments:

Tough week due to carp spawning, active crayfish and huge floating weed beds taking out the lines on a regular basis. The lake clearly holds some impressive carp, the swims all give plenty of water per angler and the owner Constant is always there if needed.

Details of your catches:

9 Carp from 13lb to 59lb

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

Tiger nuts where best as there is millions of crayfish

Were the facilities what you expected?

No, pretty poor really

Were you happy with them?

No shower was terrible had no water at the beginning of the week then no power once there was water so cold showers only

Would you recommend the venue to a friend?

Definitely, the fish in this place are fantastic so as long as you can be self sufficient and not require facilities then it’s well worth going

Would you recommend the services to a friend?

Used Angling lines for many years and the service is fairly good, just lacking on more lake information and updates cause if they did there bit better I wouldn’t have been caught out with the facilities
*Angling Lines note* Thank you for your feedback. We have spoken with the owner about the shower issues, and he informed us that unfortunately, the solar battery system had temporarily run out of power. As soon as he was alerted, he made every effort to get the showers back on as quickly as possible, in this case it was the following day. We urge anyone who experiences any issues to contact the owner or us immediately so we can resolve the matter as quickly as possible.
