We caught 31 carp, the biggest was 44lb10oz. We were very happy with the fishing and the fish were in excellent condition.

Yes the meal deal we had was very good. The shower and toilet were clean

General Comments:

Where they cut the trees down on the opposite bank around the lake there where a lot of branches left in the lake causing snags so we had to clean the area so we could fish there. We feel that these should of been cleared before we arrived seeing as Philippe was so concerned about the snags. We were told that there was 2 catfish in the lake and we found out in the week one of them had died and also some carp.

*Angling Lines note* We can confirm the lake lost 4 carp and one catfish a few months ago. There did not appear to be proof of a common cause - it is normal for lakes to lose a few fish each year down to natural causes and we do not believe this has impacted catch reports. Regarding the branches on the far bank, we apologise if these caused you any issues. We had two people at the lake clearing them one day last week and will continue to do so.

Up to 47lbs, over 50 fish 4 anglers only fishing from 5pm to 11am for 6 days and 5 nights.

Fishing to the far margins, regular rebaiting due to cray fish

Details of your catches:

41 carp, including 6 40’s, best 43lb 5oz, this was despite major tree work being undertaken during the week.

Peg 1, 9 fish including 2 x 39lb.

Peg 2 (two anglers) 23 fish, including 6x 40’s.

Peg 3 9 fish, best 35lb.

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

Find a hard spot and feed it, these were generally 60-70 yards out.

Simple rigs worked well.

Carp Company Icelandic Red, why would you use anything else.

Caught a few Bream, and there was some crayfish activity, but nothing horrendous.

Were the facilities what you expected?

Yes, food package was good, Joanne was excellent, lovely lady.

Bathroom, clean functional and plenty of hot water.

Were you happy with them?

Yes very.

Would you recommend the venue to a friend?

If there was one thing I would do with the lake, I would develop a swim on the bottom bank.

open water tactics were the most productive of the week as opposed to the far bank.

Were the facilities what you expected?

facilities were as expected, cabin had all necessary comforts for anglers for a week, nice touch with the English plugs in the cabin (saved converting plugs etc)

Were you happy with them?

happy with the facilities, shower was good, toilet block was always clean and cabin was well equipt.

Yes most certainly - the week would of been much more productive with cooler weather and less angler pressure.

General Comments:

AL confirmed a few weeks pre trip that the lake had been reduced to a 5 angler lake due to the rope on peg 3 - we found this to be of no concern to us, we comfortably fished 3 rods each in all 3 swims with plenty of room to move rods around etc - please do not be put off by this notification (it is almost harsh to have had it reduced down to 5) - that being said from the catch reports on site - the lake would fish most productively with 3-4 anglers to allow the fish to be less pressured and not hold up in the out of bounds channel running around the side of the water to peg 3. (Suggestion that this should be blocked off to allow the fish to hold up in the lake not the out of bounds).
